Liberal Words: “Abortion Saved My Life”

Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King, has said:
“Abortion and racism are both symptoms of a fundamental human error. The error is thinking that when someone stands in the way of our wants, we can justify getting that person out of our lives. Abortion and racism stem from the same poisonous root, selfishness.”
On Friday’s The Cycle, on MSNBC, co-host Touré decided to recount a story about how his life was saved:
“This week brought us the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and made me reflect on a moment from 15 years when I was in a committed relationship with a woman who I knew was just not the one. She also knew it probably wasn’t going to work out and then she got pregnant, and I was terrified. I have always known the importance of family and building kids into strong adults…I knew that pregnant woman and I were not going to be able to form a lasting family. She decided it was best to have an abortion and days later she did, we did, and in some ways that choice saved my life. I was not then smart enough or man enough to build a family…I only would have contributed to making a mess of three lives. Years after that I met another woman, married her, and after we decided to get pregnant, I went to her doctor’s appointments…with joy. It was a thrill to watch that boy grow inside her, but I must admit during that second trimester as we watched him move around on 3-D sonograms I saw how human and they were my life long belief in abortion rights was…jostled. It was life colliding with belief system…but I find something undeniably misogynist about the impulse to deny a woman’s dominion over her own body and limit her ability to shape her life…in the end I remain committed to being pro-choice.”
    Let’s break this down:
    1. Touré talks at length about the importance of family, then goes on to discuss the termination of his child. A bit of a juxtaposition typical of Liberals.

    2. Touré talks about seeing “life” grow inside his wife; yet continues to support abortion. If what was growing inside his wife was “life,” wouldn’t terminating it be murder?
    3. Lastly, he claims that it is misogynistic to tell a woman what to do with her own body, and deny her the ability to shape her life. How about denying the infant the right to shape its life? The “life” you saw growing on those sonograms is a separate entity within the woman. This argument is typical of those on the Left.
Touré displays the all too common Liberal thought pattern. He is able to divide his mind in two; compartmentalizing his own experiences. On one side, abortion saved his life, and on the other, abortion would take a life.
Just as Alveda King said, the root of abortion is a deep, twisted selfishness. The Liberal hypocrisy dictates that when it is convenient, abortion is a perfect solution to your problem–otherwise known as a child. When your life may be impeded in any way; it is perfectly acceptable to terminate a life. Touré–in one breath–claimed that a fetus was a living being, yet terminable when convenient. In effect, Touré sanctions murder–unless it’s a planned pregnancy, in which case the fetus is a beautiful, living being.
A man cannot and should not speak out of both sides of his mouth, because after a while, he will not have any opinions, only words.

I think the term would be better said that "freedom of choice" saved my life...
