Quake felt in Wyoming; landslide reported

Quake felt in Wyoming; landslide reported

    Updated 1h 5m ago

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake has hit northwest Wyoming, apparently triggering a landslide on a hiking trail, but no injuries have been reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

Bridger-Teton National Forest spokeswoman Mary Cernicek says rangers are investigating reports that a landslide covered about a quarter-mile of a trail in the national forest about 20 miles northeast of Jackson.

Cernicek says some hikers may have been further up the trail, beyond the landslide, but she didn't know how many. She says no one is believed to have been in the slide.

Cernicek says the slide wouldn't prevent any hikers from getting out. She says a forest ranger is checking to see if anyone is on the trail.

About 2-3 weeks ago there was about a 2 or 3 around the North Platte, NE area appoximately 150 miles west of me.........
Can't recall the dam, might be Johnson's lake, but they checked to make sure it didn't have any fractures in it from the quake.

A 4.6 doesn't even hardly make the news here in California, we have one about that size every week or two. I call them free amusement park rides! Had a 4.1 near me a couple months ago, it was at night and didn't even wake me up (darn!)

In CA., and other places that get lots of quakes, small quakes aren't news.

In places that seldom get any quakes any size quake is big news.
