Similar, but not the same. Unless you have a tight contract, they can sever your relationship easily. But if you are an employee, especially if you are in a union, firing somebody is not that easy.

I might try Lyft because I'm cheap. I found out that they offer free transportation to and from my medical appointments. While I can, I prefer to drive.

Only downside to Lyft is someone on Twitter recently informed me they hired that communist Valerie Jarret from the Obama administration to their board!
