JEFFERSON CITY — Your bosses can still make you work weekends and give you projects you loathe. But Missouri lawmakers have voted to make it a crime if they order that a microchip be implanted in your arm.
Forcing someone to get a microchip implantis already barred in California, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Legislation awaiting Gov. Matt Blunt’s signature would make it a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1,000 for a boss who demands that a worker get an implant.

The manufacturers admitted to hiding this information from the FDA when they obtained permission for human use.

Developing rocket hardware for a mission to the moon doesn’t preclude a former aerospace engineer’s opposition to implanting microchips in humans.
Missouri Rep. Jim Guest, R-King City, drummed up opposition among fellow legislators this year and found no resistance. They pushed through an amendment to a bill that makes it illegal for employers to force their employees to have the identification microchips implanted for any reason. It awaits the governor’s signature.
