Issa to Holder: 'Stop Hurting the Administration or Leave'

Issa to Holder: 'Stop Hurting the Administration or Leave'

    Fox News
    January 2, 2011

Rep. Darrell Issa, who is poised to become the top congressional watchdog challenging the Obama administration, said Sunday that Attorney General Eric Holder should either "stop hurting the administration or leave."

The pointed words came after Issa was asked on "Fox News Sunday" about Holder's handling of several hot-button issues, including the possibility of legal action against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Holder has said that the Justice Department is conducting an investigation into the leak of thousands of diplomatic cables, pledging to hold accountable anybody found acting in violation of U.S. law.

Lawmakers, though, have aggressively pushed him to charge Assange under the Espionage Act.

Issa, the incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, suggested the administration needs to move much faster.

The California Republican said Sunday that if President Obama is not treating the unauthorized disclosure as terrorism, then Holder needs to go after the leak as a criminal matter. "Otherwise the world is laughing at this paper tiger we've become," he said.

"He just isn't doing enough," Issa said. "He's hurting this administration. If you're hurting the administration, either stop hurting the administration or leave."

Issa also criticized Holder for not doing more to investigate ACORN's use of federal funding and punish members of the New Black Panther Party who were videotaped outside a Philadelphia polling station in 2008, one wielding a nightstick.

The latter case drew the attention of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, which voted last month to approve a report criticizing the Justice Department for its handling of the matter.

A voter intimidation case was dropped in 2009 against all but one of the defendants.

The Justice Department has denied any wrongdoing, saying the charges were dropped because the facts in the case did not support intimidation claims.

Who cares about the administration? That New Black Panther fiasco is one of many examples where he hurt US, WE the People, and violated the Constitution and upheld the destruction of the sanctity of the voting process. He's a total traitor to the nation after that one incident alone and he should have been immediately dismissed so the fact that his superior(s) allow his lawlessness to stand means that they are tarnished too. Why aren't we in court? Why aren't they all gone already?

This case with Julian Assange is a severe double standard. So the Dems want to praise when someone leaks out information that embarasses Reps or Bush back in the day and would call them a real Patriot. However now that the current administration looks bad its all of a sudden a crime that should be treated as terrorism.

While I'm at odds with Wikileaks putting out basically everything they get at least stuff that isn't seen to pose an immenent national security threat (thats whats come out from the AG that nothing posed a real national security threat). It does seem a bit pathetic when he has no aim on whistle blowing a specific grievous incident rather then pure embarassment which happens to give some real insight on some government abuses.

Still I don't see it as a crime. If your pissing on a street corner and someone snaps a photo and posts it and turns you in that person is called a good citizen. If someone takes a picture of a politician pissing on the street corner and turns them in they are called a patriot. But when someone shows the Obama administration looking life fools they are a terorist and a criminal all in one.
