Mexican immigrants plan celebration to give thanks on July 4

Planning a July 4 celebration? In addition to the usual fanfare of family cookouts and fireworks, add to the list a community-wide celebration in Santa Ana by Mexican Americans who want to give thanks to the United States.

Americans give thanks and celebrate Thanksgiving in November. It is an American tradition.

Americans celebrate our Declaration of Independence patriotically July 4th. It is an American tradition.

Mexican Americans know that, so this is not Mexican Americans doing this, this is illegal Mexican immigrants doing this.

ICE should show up at the festival and check immigration papers.

Sounds like a change of tactics on the part of the "immigrants". I wonder if it will include lots of Mexican flags.

Excuse me. I don't believe the 4th of July needs a cultural revolution.

I really don't like the thought of the focus being changed or taken off of the significance of American Independence.

Why don't they celebrate being thankful to America on May 5th?

I DONT REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM DOING THIS ON INDEPENDENCE DAY **IF** THEY ACTUALLY CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY IN THE TRADITION OF OUR CULTURE. IF THEY WANT TO SAY "THANKS" AT THE SAME TIME.....THAT IS OK. I BETTER NOT SEE EVEN ONE MEXICAN FLAG ON THAT DAY....NOT EVEN ONE. AND WHATEVER THEY DO BETTER BE DONE IN ENGLISH.
