Obama Appoints Anti-Gun Proponent As Representative To U.N. General Assembly

The General Assembly of the United Nations is convening for its annual session in New York City this week, welcoming representatives from its 192 member nations to deliberate global issues.

The General Assembly is one of the six organs of the U.N. and it provides a forum of multilateral discussions for the drafting of resolutions.

President Barack Obama recently appointed former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, a proponent of gun control, as an alternative representative to the U.N. assembly, the Seattle Times reports. The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) believes that Nickels was selected in order to rubber stamp a global gun control initiative.

"President Obama has essentially told America's 85 million gun owners that their firearm civil rights are in jeopardy. Nickels cannot be counted on to defend the Second Amendment because he would like to see it erased from the Constitution," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, quoted by the news provider.

Gottlieb said that Nickels, when he was Seattle's mayor, supported every anti-gun initiative created by Washington CeaseFire, a non-profit organization which advocates for gun control. Nickels served two terms as mayor before failing to win the Democratic primary in 2009.

Homeowner with gun fights off 3 invaders

One suspect in a Beaver County home invasion is in the hospital.

Another is in police custody, and a third is at large after a homeowner in Aliquippa fought them off with a pistol police said.

Police were summoned at about 2 a.m. to a residence in the 1300 block of Wade Street, where they found the homeowner still armed, police Chief Ralph Pallante said.

The man told police three men forced their way into his home and he chased them off with the gun.

Names of the homeowner and the suspects were not immediately released, pending further investigation, Chief Pallante said.

This act was designed to overturn the recent Supreme Court decision that restored rights to CCRKBA to criticize an elected official during a campaign. The Disclose Act will destroy member driven organizations that have acted in good faith and require them to publicly register members. Now we need to register to voice our opinion? We all know the dangers of being registered-it's one more step towards total gun confiscation.

This week's highly-publicized effort to exempt the National Rifle Association from the effects of the "Disclose Act," H.R. 5175 shows how fundamentally bankrupt the legislation and its underlying philosophy is.

The attempt by Democrats to essentially buy off the NRA with a tailor-made exemption should be proof enough that the entire measure is morally, if not legally, repugnant and should be rejected by Congress. The exemption clause, if it were to be formally adopted as an amendment to the bill, is probably unconstitutional. We think that is reason enough for Congress to stop H.R. 5175 in its tracks.............
