House Democrats are planning soon after they take power in January to move a bill to require federal background checks on all firearm sales, part of a broader attempt to advance long-stalled gun control measures, Politico reported on Monday.
Although the proposal won't pass in the Republican-controlled Senate, getting through the House will be a step forward and a victory for the gun-control movement.
The plan has the backing of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who said “The new Democratic majority will act boldly and decisively to pass commonsense, life-saving background checks.”
California Rep. Mike Thompson, head of a Democratic gun violence prevention task force and who plans to introduce the bill, stressed the political landscape has shifted dramatically on the issue.
“The American people want this,” he said. “They're way ahead of the Congress, they're way ahead of the White House."
Even if not passed into law, the legislation may serve as a messaging bill to demonstrate to the public that they heard those who have marched for action and show they won't be afraid to talk about gun control ahead of the 2020 elections.
“It’s very important to us, it’s one of our top priorities,” said New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over the issue.
GOP North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson, a key National Rifle Association ally in the House, said universal background checks is "something that... polls very well, but there's not a single commercial gun transaction in America that doesn't have a background check."
He added that "the wrong people are not going to report gun sales. So you will need a registry to know where every gun is," which is staunchly opposed by the NRA.

While this won’t prevent mass shootings, as a government study conducted by anti-gun lunatics in politically elite positions already discovered, a very vast majority of gun owners regulate themselves.

Gun-hating democrats who demanded a study into the sale of guns online were smacked with a dose of reality. They wasted two years attempting to buy guns illegally on the “dark web,” and the group of Democrats failed every single time.
Senator Elizabeth Warren joined with Senator Brian Schultz, D-Hawaii, and Representative Elijah Cummings, D-Md., to commission the GAO report.
An embarrassing attempt to try to regulate guns further went horribly wrong when Democrats took it upon themselves to try to skirt the law to prove it can be done. Over the course of the two-and-a-half year investigation, agents tried to buy firearms illegally on the “Surface Web” and the “Dark Web,” generally by sharing their status as “prohibited individuals” or trying to buy across state lines. –SHTFPlan

But the GAO revealed that every single one of their [Democrats who tried to buy guns privately] 72 attempts outside of the “dark web” were “unsuccessful.”
It kind of makes one wonder where Bloomberg got his information and statistics. As if that isn’t bad enough, to humiliate those in power who think of us as less equal than them, the bulk of this rather embarrassing study is being ignored by the mainstream media.

“Private sellers on Surface Web gun forums and in classified ads were unwilling to sell a firearm to our agents that self-identified as being prohibited from possessing a firearm,” the GAO reported, noting that in their “72 attempts … 56 sellers refused to complete a transaction once we revealed that either the shipping address was across state lines or that we were prohibited by law from owning firearms.”

In the other cases, the investigators’ website was frozen or they encountered suspected scammers.

But reason and logic fail when the slaves demand protection from the master and want the other slaves as defenseless as possible because that is their default – accept their slavery and beg. Politico reports that Representative Mike Thompson ( who is not surprisingly a Democrat from California) is spearheading the current gun control push and attempting to further enslave the populace with ink on paper. Under the guise of a “universal background” legislation, such checks would criminalize private gun sales, making it illegal for a neighbor to sell a firearm to his neighbor, a friend to his lifelong friend, and even a father to his son.

According to Breitbart, under the Democrats’ plan, a background system like that in California would require a gun seller to seek government permission for any sale or transfer of a firearm. Such a system was put in place in California in the early 1990s and has failed to prevent some of our nation’s most heinous mass public attacks. Meaning this bill is not about “curbing gun violence,” it’s about controlling the tax cattle.
Nevertheless, Thompson expects to push his gun control bill within “the first 100 days” of the new Congress, Breitbart reported further. Incoming House Judiciary Committee chairman Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) has already assured his colleagues that he will move the bill “very quickly” once it is introduced.

Following the passage and enactment of both Proposition 63 and Senate Bill 1235 in the Golden State, the California Department of Justice released the first of apparently many regulatory proposals that will make it increasingly more difficult for Californians to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Set to take effect on July 1, 2019, the first proposal will require everyone who purchases ammunition in California to first undergo a mandatory background check. The subsequent proposals will address various other regulatory definitions to require a lot more hoop-jumping in order for everyday California citizens to purchase guns and ammo.
Oppressed Venezuelans only WISH they had a Second Amendment

To some, these proposals might appear to simply be “reasonable” gun control measures aimed at making it more difficult for criminals to obtains weapons of mass murder. But in reality, they’re incremental steps designed to eventually remove guns entirely.
Back in 2012, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez passed similar measures that, just one year later under the so-called “Control of Arms, Munitions and Disarmament Law,” led to the systematic elimination of all gun ownership rights throughout the country.


Fast-forward another five years and look where Venezuela is at today.
“Guns would have served as a vital pillar to remaining a free people, or at least able to put up a fight,” says Javier Vanegas, a 28-year-old English teacher who told Fox News that the initial laws in Venezuela, just like these new proposals in California, were described as efforts to reduce crime and protect people. But in reality, they turned out to be something entirely different.
“The government security forces, at the beginning of this debacle, knew they had no real opposition to their force,” Vanegas is quoted as saying. “Once things were this bad, it was a clear declaration of war against an unarmed population.”
Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, has issued similar warnings about so-called “reasonable” gun control laws. Except, in America’s case, he contends, it’s about stoking civil war.
“The real goal, it turns out, is to initiate a bloody civil war as a reaction to the gun grab, setting the stage for Democrats’ demands to occupy America with United Nations troops and overthrow Trump by military force,” Adams writes.

After reading a couple of articles about magazines/weapon news from New Jersey – actually, after reading a lot of comments from people on that news- I have the urge to write this article. It is written from the survivalist point of view. There is, of course, the possible danger to get comments like “What the hell do you know Selco? You are not American, shut up!” Because I am going to be “poking” a few sacred cows here.

Right now, this is not the rise of communism.

“Stalin is coming.”
I do not think this all news is about “rise of communism” in the US, and also I do think that you still live in a land with a lot of great rights and liberties, which is very cool.
What is not cool is the fact that you are moving in the direction of slowly “shrinking” of those rights. But it is still very far away from a “communistic evil empire”, so I do not see sense in having big headlines about Nazis and such other than scaring people for whatever reason.
Weapon rights and the government
I see here something which is much more dangerous than the fear of communism.
It is how people react to news or new laws about any weapon limitation. It’s how they talk about what the majority of them are planning to do.
Government at its core has the urge to control people in whatever way they can. If you are more armed that means you are less controllable.
But if you are acting in a way that you are screaming from the rooftops how you “will defend your right to have (whatever) weapon (contrary) to the newest law” and how you’ll “be proud to own i, and to show it” you eventually are not doing yourself any favors.
Do you really think that when the time comes that the government will send two pale clerks to search your home looking for whatever weapon?
Nope.
Here’s how confiscation might actually go down.
Here is how it might actually go down. This is one possible scenario:
First, you’ll be labeled as a terrorist, some weird guy who wants to overthrow the government. Maybe your photo will be posted somewhere stating that you are very sick, and that you pose a danger to society.
If you are a member of some group, let’s say a prepper group, you all will be labeled as terrorists first, and through the media, you can be portrayed as a domestic terror cell, to the point that your next door neighbor will help police to get you.
Do not underestimate the power of the government machine. You may truly be a fighter for constitutional rights and a real patriot, but in 3 days you can become a crazy terrorist that citizens will actually hunt down and shoot like a mad dog.
The point here is there is no point of publicly “yelling” about what you own and what are your rights to own.
Of course, you need to own weapons that you think it makes sense to own.
But why does everybody else need to know that, including government and government services?
The 2nd Amendment
The 2nd Amendment is very cool, and I like it very much, but here is the ugly truth:
It works only if the government wants it to work.
One day, when the government does not want it to work anymore it will be out of order, illegal, or even terrorist to practice it.
Sorry, it is not your inalienable right. The government lets you THINK it is your inalienable right.
Actually, you do need to protect that right. You need to defend it.
But again not in a way that you gonna portray yourself as a terrorist. I mean, I will own what I want to own, and only I am gonna know that untill the day when I need it very badly.
Owning weapons
There used to be a law about weapons here, where I live, before the war. And yes, you could own a weapon but it was such a hard law that actually not too many people owned legal weapons.
And right when the SHTthe F, first thing that happened was the confiscation of legal weapons, based on lists of who own legal weapons.
Now what people could do then was to say, “This is my legal weapon. I have a right to own it, by the law.” And those who did that usually got shot.
There were 20 heavily armed guys at your door asking nicely for your weapon, to be turned over to them in the name of “law” as an effort of a government that wanted to calm down a chaotic situation.
Sometimes if you said no, those guys would simply destroy the whole house with RPGs and bombs.
And guess what that meant?
Folks who owned legal weapon lost them even before the big SHTF. And a lot of guys who owned them in an illegal way hidden somewhere still own them when SHTF.
Illegal and legal have different meanings in different times and based who says those words, so think about it.
I am not saying that it will go like that there where you are. What I do say is you that you need to think a bit outside the box when it comes to owning things.
My thoughts on this
For many years I found it ridiculous not to have an illegal (not traceable) weapon stored somewhere safe for the bad times.
When SHTF and when (if) guys show up on my doorstep to confiscate my weapon what will I do?
I will give them the weapon that they know about. What else I should do?
Practice my rights?
Nope.
I have more of that stuff. It’s not worth it to fight over the one they know about.
What could be coming for the future?
Again I do not really see the government taking away all rights of owning a weapon as a possibility there. The tradition of firearms is simply way too big, and also the number of weapons is too big, too.
But what is possible is the rapid shrinking of that right through some big event, in an effort of getting things back to normal.
When something big happens and there is big fear and terror, people are ready to “give away” a lot of rights and liberties in exchange for the feeling of safety and security. This is wrong of course but it is how things work.
So actually you never know, anything is possible.
One bad side of having rights and freedoms for a long time (in owning weapon) is thinking it is always gonna be like that.
Or thinking it must be like that.
The “good side” of not having good gun rights is having a tradition of having ALWAYS hidden somewhere an illegal weapon. Always.
And only you know about it and maybe your family.
There is no need to brag about that anywhere else.

The Guardian detailed House Democrats’ desire to pass gun control legislation in the upcoming Congress:

“Ted Deutch, a Democratic congressman from Florida who represents Parkland, where a February school shooting left 17 dead, said this week that he expected House Democrats to focus on bills with more bipartisan support. Those measures included bump stock bans and “extreme risk protection orders”, also known as red flag laws, which give law enforcement and family members a way to petition a court to temporarily bar an unstable person from buying or owning guns.”

What Are Red Flag Laws?

Red flag laws or Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) are the euphemistic label for a variety of new proposed gun-control laws. Under red flag laws, law enforcement has the ability to confiscate an individual’s firearms who is deemed a threat to themselves or others. A simple accusation from a family member, friend, or associate will suffice to seize someone’s firearms.
These laws, mind you, operate in the absence of normal due process. The accused in these cases could have their weapons confiscated without even so much as a hearing a before a judge. It could take months before a gun owner could appear in court to win back his gun rights.
Thirteen states currently have red flag laws on the books. What started out as a state-level movement may have some legs at the federal level. Although it’s true that Congressional Democrats are making gun control a major theme of their legislative agenda, it’s naïve to think red flag laws are only relevant because of “gun-grabbing” Democrats have taken power.
As we’ll see below, red flag laws have a history of bipartisan support. And when any piece of legislation has Democrats and Republicans locking arms in agreement, you know trouble lies ahead.
The Gun Control Bipartisan Status Quo

Despite the passionate campaign rhetoric, a significant portion of Republican politicians will change colors on gun rights once in DC. Several GOP members in the upcoming Congress stick out like a sore thumb when it comes to their gun control advocacy:

Brian Mast: A Congressman from Florida’s 18th district, Brian Mast penned an op-ed for the New York Times a few months ago calling for the ban of so-called “assault weapons” and a number of firearms accessories. However, actions, not words, are what matter most in politics. Mast went on to co-sponsor H.R. 2598, a bill which authorizes the Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services to provide grants to states with red flag laws on the book.
Marco Rubio: Following the Parkland shootings, Rubio joined the gun control chorus by sponsoring a red flagbill along with Democrat Senators Joe Manchin, Bill Nelson, & Jack Reed. Rubio has even flirted with the idea of regulations on magazine clips, raising the minimum age to buy certain firearms like AR-15s, and tweaking the current background check system.
Rick Scott: Former Governor of Florida and now a US Senator from Florida, Rick Scott poses an interesting threat to gun rights. Despite his ostensible anti-gun-control rhetoric, Scott signed SB 7026 Florida’s most expansive gun control measure in recent history. Scott’s SB 7026 contains red flag provisions, raises the age to buy a firearm to 21, and imposes a three-day waiting period for all firearms purchases.
Larry Hogan: On April 24, 2018, Maryland Governor Hogan signed a series of gun bills, one which included a red flag law. In October, the first month Maryland’s red flag law went into effect, there were 114 requests to confiscate individuals’ firearms.

Maryland’s red flag law has not been without its fair share of controversy.
At 5 a.m on Monday, November 5, two police officers came knocking on 61-year-old Gary Willis’ door to serve him a court order mandating that he turn over his guns. What seemed like a typical court order, quickly turned deadly as one of the cops shot and killed Willis in a struggle that ensued. Quick to defend one of his own, Anne Arundel County Police Chief Timothy Altomare defended the cops’ action by callously claiming that they “did the best they could with the situation they had.”
The tragic incident in Maryland is an ominous sign of what is to come should red flag laws gain more traction.
Whether or not Republicans will support new Red Flag laws is anyone’s guess. The bigger problem at hand is an ideological one, and opponents of gun control would do well to stop putting their faith in the winner-take-all electoral slugfest we see at the federal level every 4 years, and to embrace decentralization instead.

BOULDER, Colorado — Boulder’s newly enacted “assault weapons” ban is meeting with stiff resistance from its “gun-toting hippies,” staunch liberals who also happen to be devoted firearms owners.
Only 342 “assault weapons,” or semiautomatic rifles, were certified by Boulder police before the Dec. 31 deadline, meaning there could be thousands of residents in the scenic university town of 107,000 in violation of the sweeping gun-control ordinance.
“I would say the majority of people I’ve talked to just aren’t complying because most people see this as a registry,” said Lesley Hollywood, executive director of the Colorado Second Amendment group Rally for Our Rights. “Boulder actually has a very strong firearms community.”
The ordinance, approved by the city council unanimously, banned the possession and sale of “assault weapons,” defined as semiautomatic rifles with a pistol grip, folding stock, or ability to accept a detachable magazine. Semiautomatic pistols and shotguns are also included.
Current owners were given until the end of the year to choose one of two options: Get rid of their semiautomatics by moving them out of town, disabling them, or turning them over to police — or apply for a certificate with the Boulder Police Department, a process that includes a firearm inspection, background check and $20 fee.

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- Governor Ralph Northam has announced a comprehensive package of legislation that he claims will prevent gun violence and improve the safety of Virginia’s citizens and communities.
He said the package includes measures to require universal background checks; establish an Extreme Risk Protective Order; reinstate Virginia’s One Handgun a Month law; prohibit individuals subject to final protective orders from possessing firearms; ban assault firearms; prevent children from accessing firearms; and require individuals to report lost or stolen firearms to law enforcement.
"We lose too many Virginians each year to senseless gun violence, and it is time we take meaningful steps to protect the health and safety of our citizens," said Governor Northam. "I look forward to opening a dialogue with the General Assembly on this legislative package of reasonable gun violence reforms, which appropriately balances Second Amendment Rights with public safety."

The Extreme Risk Protective Order creates a legal mechanism to temporarily separate a person from their firearms and prevent them from accessing firearms when the court finds that they pose a substantial danger to themselves or others.

"Every death by gun violence is a tragedy, and one of the most heartbreaking facts is that many of these are preventable. This bill, which mirrors legislative steps taken in numerous states from Florida to California, would enable family and friends to stop—with plenty of due process and respect for Second Amendment rights—an individual from committing gun violence before a single shot is fired," said Delegate Rip Sullivan. "Not only would this bill help stop horrific events like school shootings, it will help address one of the less talked-about crises in Virginia—suicide by firearm. Evidence from other states shows that this type of bill saves lives while remaining consistent with the Second Amendment. It is long past time for us in the Commonwealth to pass this critical bill to curb the emergency that is preventable gun violence."
The universal background check bill will close a loophole in Virginia law, and require background checks on all firearm sales, including private, or online sales.

Virginia’s one handgun a month law had been in effect for almost 20 years prior to its repeal in 2012.

Two lawmakers will sponsor legislation to reinstate the law.
Virginia has consistently been identified as a source state for crime guns recovered in other states, and this bill will help to prevent people from stockpiling firearms and transporting them for sale in other states, Northam claims.

The protective order bill will prevent any person subject to a final order of protection from purchasing, possessing, or transporting firearms.

It will also require these individuals to turn over their firearms within 24 hours, and certify to the courts that the firearms have been transferred.

The lost and stolen firearm bill requires that any person who loses, or has a firearm stolen from their possession, report the loss or theft to law enforcement within 24 hours of discovery.

The child access prevention bill increases the penalty for leaving a loaded, unsecured firearm around a child and raises the age of a child in existing law from 14 to 18.

Other lawmakers will patron legislation to ban the sale, purchase, possession, and transport of assault firearms in the Commonwealth.

House Democrats plan to introduce a bill criminalizing private gun sales on Tuesday of next week.

The legislation will be introduced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), and gun control proponent Gabby Giffords.
Tuesday will be the eighth anniversary of the day on which Giffords was shot by Jared Loughner.
The bill seeks to put background checks in place for all gun sales, requiring a daughter to get a background check before her mother can give her a gun or a son to get a background check before a father can give him one. It would also require a lifelong friend to get a background check before he can a gun from his lifelong friend.
Politico quoted Rep. Thompson saying:

Since the shooting at Sandy Hook, the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force has been fighting for a chance to pass legislation that will help save lives. Finally, with our new majority that ran on helping to prevent gun violence, we will introduce a bipartisan, universal background checks bill. We will hold hearings, we will have a vote, and this legislation will finally pass the House.

The Democrats gave refer to the background check bill as “H.R. 8,” honoring the eight years of Giffords’ life since the attack. Ironically, her attacker passed a background check to acquire his gun, so this bill would have done nothing to prevent her from being shot.

Sen. Diane Feinstein is back at it again. The notoriously anti-Second Amendment senator has introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019, which would outlaw 205 “military-style assault weapons by name” along with any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds plus a bunch of other common firearms and accessories.
As is typical of this kind of legislation, the bill does nothing to address gun crime in any way, but only seeks to ban firearms that politicians say people shouldn't be allowed to own—because they're scary—along with a bunch of nonsense about “military characteristics,” which apparently include any forward grip and barrel shrouds.
It would also make a large number of suppressed firearms illegal, as it outlaws any firearm with a detachable mag and a threaded barrel.
From the bill text, which you can read in full here:
“Bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one ore more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel, or a folding or telescoping stock.”
The bill says that all of the outlawed items would be grandfathered in and that people could keep whatever guns and magazines they have when/if the law goes into effect. But…the transfer of “high capacity magazines” would be forbidden.
The bill exempts more than 2,200 guns by name “for hunting, household defense, or recreational purposes.”
Additionally, the proposed law would:

• . Require a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.
• . Require that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.
• . Prohibit the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.
• . Ban bump-fire stocks and other devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at fully automatic rates.

But that’s not all. Even more features would be banned, including the AR stocks with no pistol grip like those made by Thorsden Customs.
The legislation would also:

• Ban stocks that are “otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, size, or any other dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability of a firearm.”
• Ban assault pistols that weigh 50 or more ounces when unloaded, a policy included in the original 1994 ban.
• Ban assault pistol stabilizing braces that transform assault pistols into assault rifles by allowing the shooter to shoulder the weapon and fire more accurately.
• Ban Thordsen-type grips and stocks that are designed to evade a ban on assault weapons.

Mass shootings are cited as the impetus of this broad attack on the Second Amendment, though the bill itself only is able to list 3 incidents that occurred in 2018 involving “military-style assault rifles.”
In total, all rifles are only responsible for a tiny fraction of homicides in the U.S. annually, let alone ARs. According to the FBI, more people are killed each year with bludgeons like hammers and clubs than rifles. Most firearm homicides are committed with handguns.
The bill also does not include any information on how this ban would differ from the previous Assault Weapons Ban signed by President Bill Clinton that is viewed resoundingly as a failure, as it did nothing to reduce crime. It was in effect for a decade from 1994 to 2004 and was allowed to expire under President George W. Bush.
If the bill makes it out of committee, it may go on to pass in the Democrat-controlled House, but it is highly unlikely it will then pass in the Republican-controlled Senate. Of course, it would also have to be signed by the President.
One thing is for sure: if this bill gains any traction, because of the grandfather clause, Feinstein might become the country’s new best gun salesperson.
