HOUSTON MAN HOLDS THREE BURGLARS AT GUNPOINT WHILE WAITING FOR POLICE TO ARRIVE

A Texas homeowner returned to his home in Houston Wednesday morning, Feb. 27, to a burglary in progress, as reported by KHOU.

Randy Magdeleno returned home around 8:30 to find glass broken and the back door slightly opened. He could also hear voices in the house and people running around. Knowing that he had a rifle
inside near the door, he entered and snuck up on the intruders, three 14-year-old boys. He states that he would have never entered the home, had he not known that he could easily access the gun.

Upon approaching the startled youths, he ordered the first two to get on the ground, face down, and when the third boy emerged from upstairs, he ordered him to do the same. All three calmly and quickly complied. The scared boys claimed they were in the home looking for their dog.

Magdeleno then called his wife, who was at work, and had her call the police. He held the boys at gunpoint until police arrived. They were then taken into custody and will be charged with burglary.

Magdeleno stated that he knew he had to remain calm during the incident. He knew that he was outnumbered and that the boys could have very well over-taken him had they chosen to do so.

The homeowner’s laptop was later found in one of the boy’s backpack, which confirmed that they were not, in fact, looking for their dog, but rather stealing electronics and other valuables.

A father of one of the teenage intruders can be commended, however, because after the incident, the boy’s father made him return to the Magdeleno home and apologize for what he had done.

Home invasions and theft has been a growing problem in Houston and many homeowners are choosing to fight back by becoming armed to protect themselves and their property.

With NBC’s weeklong series “investigating” “gun violence” in America, which exploits deaths that occurred over a weekend in January in an attempt to gain acceptance for gun control, the Little Rock Gun Rights Examiner has started its own series in an effort to help show that guns not only take lives, they very often save them. The series will highlight 30 days of guns saving lives. This is story number 18.
