Nine people, many of them members of the same family, were arrested in a drug bust over the weekend in Rosenberg after Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force officers raided a home on a large wooded lot directly across the street from George Junior High School.

A seven-month undercover drug investigation prompted the raid after officers obtained 18 grand jury indictments for drug offenses, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said. Numerous people accused of selling crack cocaine were living at the home in the 4600 block of Airport, a sheriff's spokeswoman said. The property was protected with surveillance cameras that could be monitored from inside the residence.

SWAT raid
Early Saturday, SWAT team members from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and Rosenberg Police Department served a search warrant at the home as a Houston Police Department helicopter hovered overhead to light up the property. Agents found drug contraband that suggested powder cocaine and crack cocaine were being made, packaged and distributed from the residence, a sheriff's office report shows.

Agents found 2.5 ounces of cocaine, marijuana and pharmaceutical drugs inside the home, reports show. Police also found eight children ranging from 4 months to 9 years old at the residence. All of the youths were turned over to Child Protective Services.

Those arrested included a mother, her two sons, their wives, the mother's daughter and the daughter's boyfriend, sheriff's reports show.
