ENGLEWOOD - A city man has been charged with having criminal sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl, police said Friday.

Authorities say Julio Alegria, 57, pushed the girl down and rubbed against her while they were both clothed on the morning of Dec. 31.

The girl’s parents had left her at Alegria's Humphrey Street home with the understanding that he would watch her, said Joseph Macellaro, acting chief of detectives for the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The girl came forward several days later to her mother, who reported the alleged incident to Englewood Police.

Alegria has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child. He was being held Friday at the Bergen County Jail on $250,000 cash bail. Allegria must surrender his passport, and have no contact with the victim or her siblings.
