With Obama’s allies sounding the retreat on the public option, ObamaCare has taken a decisive blow. And Obama has taken his first major political defeat. What is particularly extraordinary is that he has suffered this defeat, despite interrupted media sycophancy delivering programming that reflected every single White House talking point.

From smearing Republicans as in the pockets of the insurance industry and Town Hall protesters as extremist racists, to treating ObamaCare as the only reasonable thing that only lunatics would resist-- the media delivered on its end of the propaganda. And yet minds kept getting changed in the other direction.

So how did it happen?

We can turn for starters to the man whose shadow Obama has occasionally sought to fill (when he isn’t filling the shadows of FDR, JFK, Ronald Reagan and the Messiah of all Mankind), Abraham Lincoln. It was Honest Abe who said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.â€

Good info... but I don't think the battle is over yet. I believe they are faking a retreat and going to get everything they want established in separate bills. For example part of their rationed health care plan was inserted into the stimulus package... I believe they will do the same with this and catch everyone off guard. We won't know what hit us until it's law.

Critics of the new economic stimulus bill Congress is considering are concerned that, buried in it, is a new plan for rationed health care. Betsy McCaughey, the former Lt. Governor of New York, has written a widely circulated editorial with the analysis.

Rationed health care is not a new fear for the pro-life movement.

The British government has been condemned for years for its nationalized health care system which puts off important surgeries and other health care for patients.

If instituted in the United States, pro-life advocates have been concerned it could lead to the denial of lifesaving medical treatment or euthanasia of patients.

McCaughey, an adjunct senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, says the rationing provisions “reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle,â€
