"The deliberate, unmitigated violence against my agents is going to stop." With these few words, I directed my command staff to find a way to make this directive become reality and to establish a new way of doing business. Today, we stand resolute and committed to this objective.
Many of you may be aware of our operational deployments along the border with Mexico as the increase of violence against Border Patrol Agents continues at unprecedented levels. Last year, one out of every four assaults against agents along the 2,000 miles of border with Mexico occurred in San Diego . Not only is this trend continuing, but it is dramatically increasing; since October 2007 we have recorded over 100 assaults thus far. Nearly twice a day, the men and women of the San Diego Sector Border Patrol, who have unselfishly taken an oath to protect this great Nation, are subjected to violent assaults from criminals operating in Mexico .
mw Now no matter how much you attack me, I'm not going to back down from voicing my concern over this fence. I think far too much attention is being paid to this fence by the politcians and far too little actual work toward getting it done. I think they are using it as misdirection so they look like they are doing something, when they aren't.
While we are all out here talking about this fence, demanding this fence, they are going right along pandering to, giving benefits to, illegals and kowtowing to Mexico.
A fence is not a bad thing - if built correctly. It will not do the job by itself. WE must have interior enforcement and the BP must have the freedom to do their jobs.
The fence is something the congress can keep talking about for a least another year and discussing, and designing, all the while, the illegals are voting, Mexico is interferring in our politics and our law enforcement, anchor babies are being born.
Why should anyone resent questions about this? I don't understand.
