They actually let us know he is illegal. He is not the first illegal that was killed by lightening this year in South Florida.

A lightning stroke that came without rain or thunder killed a landscaper Monday afternoon as he trimmed weeds along a lake in Parkland's Ternbridge Estates neighborhood, authorities said.

They identified the man as Domingo Andres Francisco, 24, of North Lauderdale. The Guatemalan national had moved to Broward County in May, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

He is the third person in less than a month to be killed by lightning in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Angel Villanueva, 20, of Cococnut Creek was playing soccer with his relatives at Lake Wyman Park in Boca Raton when he was struck July 30. He died Aug. 2.

On July 22, lightning struck the air tank of a scuba diver who was in the water off Deerfield Beach. Stephen Wilson, 36, of Deerfield Beach, was knocked unconscious and pronounced dead minutes later.

In the latest incident, Broward Sheriff's deputies reached the 7100 block of Northwest 68th Drive just after 2:15 p.m. to find Francisco unconscious on the ground, said Sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles. Deputies performed CPR on Francisco, but he died soon after at North Broward Medical Center, Jachles said.

On Monday afternoon, Francisco was working with three other men employed by AmeriLawn and Landscaping, Inc., of Wellington, but no one else was injured, Jachles said.

Though the crew saw storm clouds in the distance they did not plan to stop working right away because it had not started raining and they did not see any lightning prior to their co-worker being struck, Jachles said.
