Herman Cain to Endorse Newt Gingrich?

    Video at link below

With the Republican field’s first major test just weeks away, the failed presidential bid of Herman Cain is throwing his support behind the current frontrunner.
Sources told Fox 5 Atlanta that Herman Cain will endorse the presidential bid of Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today.
Several sexual harassment allegations and a claim of a long-term affair left the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO’s White House bid all but destroyed.

The formal announcement is reportedly scheduled for this afternoon at 2pm in New York, where Gingrich is currently campaigning.
The endorsement will likely put some steam behind the Gingrich campaign, which has so far been the biggest beneficiary of Cain’s slide.
The endorsement should not come as much of a surprise, as Cain and Gingrich are friends.
A Des Moines Register poll conducted November 27-30 and released late Saturday found the former House speaker leading the GOP field with 25 per cent support, ahead of Paul at 18 per cent and Romney at 16.

    Newt Gingrich: Serial Hypocrisy

I am going to describe a candidate for you right now, and I want you to think about whether or not you would support him.

This candidate was for the individual mandate that served as the model for "ObamaCare." He was originally for the TARP bank bailouts before he was against them. He joined with Nancy Pelosi to promote the anti-business "global warming" agenda.

He slammed Paul Ryan's budget plan as "extreme," calling it "right wing social engineering."

You might think I am talking about Mitt Romney. Heck, you might think I'm talking about a liberal Democrat. But I'm not.

That candidate I'm talking about is Newt Gingrich. He is what I like to call a "counterfeit conservative."

And I have barely even scratched the surface!

My campaign team has put together a great video that tells you more about Gingrich and his liberal positions over the years. It tells you how he flip-flopped on a host of important issues.

And it shows, despite his claims, he is simply not a conservative.

You can take a look at the video HERE, which has spread like wildfire across the web, as it's received almost 600,000 views.

You might have seen recently that Mr. Gingrich traded on his former political office to land a $1.8 million lobbying contract with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

    Why is this so disturbing?

Because while these out-of-control federal agencies were ruining the housing market and causing millions of homeowners to lose their homes and life savings, Newt Gingrich was earning millions advising them.

At that same exact time, I was publicly declaring they needed to be stopped before they ruined the economy.

I guess Newt Gingrich and I have a different idea of what to do with federal bureaucracies. I fight to rein them in and shut them down before they can do harm. He pads his personal bank account while they wreck our economy.

While I was fighting environmental extremists, the out-of-control EPA, and the Soros-funded green movement, Newt Gingrich was filming commercials with Nancy Pelosi.

While I was fighting government bailouts, Newt was saying he would have voted FOR them.

Don't be fooled by the words candidates use when they are running for office. Look hard at their records. My record is one of true limited government, anti-Washington, D.C. conservatism.

Newt Gingrich has a long record of liberal appeasement, flip-flopping on key issues, and lobbying for insider millions.

Millions. That's right. Remember the individual mandate I mentioned earlier that Newt supported? His healthcare group received nearly $40 MILLION in contributions from the healthcare industry.

I have rarely seen a candidate who represents so much of what is wrong with Washington and what is wrong with our political system.

We can and must demand better.

We must demand REAL conservative values. We must demand a person who puts faith, family, and freedom ahead of all else. And we must demand a candidate who has remained true to principle his entire career.

I believe I am that candidate, and I ask you to take a look at my Plan to Restore America at www.ronpaul2012.com.

You can tell I mean every word in it -- just as I've meant every word I have said in public life. And that's something that everyone will admit, whether they agree with all of my positions or not.

With me, what you see and hear is what you get. Wouldn't that be a nice change?

I am the only true conservative in the top tier of candidates running for the GOP nomination. And I ask for your support.

Together, we can stop the counterfeit conservatives AND the liberals in the White House. We can take back and Restore America Now.

    For Liberty,

    Ron Paul

P.S. Whether it's flip-flopping on TARP, supporting the individual mandate that served as a model for "ObamaCare," joining with Nancy Pelosi in support of the global-warming crowd's radical agenda, or making millions off of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as they helped destroy our economy, Newt Gingrich is trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

    He's what I call a "counterfeit conservative."

Here's an ad my campaign put together explaining his record of supporting liberal policies. Please take a moment to watch it.

The Iowa caucuses are less than 1 month away. So please click here to make your most generous contribution so my campaign has the resources necessary to blitz the airwaves in Iowa with the message of Newt Gingrich's serial hypocrisy.

Gingrich camp: No Cain endorsement on Monday

    Reuters – 15 mins ago...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former pizza magnate Herman Cain will not endorse former rival Newt Gingrich for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination on Monday, contrary to a media report, a spokesman for Gingrich's campaign said.

Cain dropped out of the race on Saturday after accusations of sexual misconduct overwhelmed his bid to become the Republicans' choice to oppose Democratic President Barack Obama's re-election bid.

His departure shaped the Republican race more clearly into a matchup between Gingrich and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and spurred speculation as to whom the former Republican front-runner would support.

Cain said on Saturday he would endorse one of the contenders for the nomination. The Fox television station in Atlanta that first reported allegations that Cain had had an extramarital affair said he was preparing to endorse Gingrich on Monday.

    Cain has denied the affair.

Gingrich seemed the most logical choice for a Cain endorsement because his campaign has appealed to the same conservative wing of the Republican party targeted by Cain, who had positioned himself as an anti-Washington tax reformer.

R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for Gingrich, said there were no plans for Cain to endorse the former Speaker of the House of Representatives on Monday, despite media reports over the weekend.

"Like Mark Block, I am not expecting any endorsements today," Hammond said. Block, Cain's campaign chief, has said he does not expect Cain to endorse any of his former rivals soon.

A separate NBC News/Marist poll showed Gingrich beating Romney, 26 per cent to 18 per cent, among Republican caucus attendees in Iowa.

Gingrich also is enjoying national popularity that could give him the momentum he needs to overcome deficiencies in the organization of his campaign.

At the same time, Gingrich says he knows his surge in the polls could disappear if his opponents stage a comeback.

'I'm not going to say that any of my friends can't suddenly surprise us,' Gingrich said at a recent town hall meeting in New York sponsored by tea party supporters.

Cain’s departure aroused speculation among his former rivals over who would benefit the most from his departure.

Reps Ron Paul of Texas and Michele Bachmann of Minnesota both said Sunday that Cain’s supporters would likely fall in line behind them because of their messages on limited government.

Bachmann said: 'A lot of Herman Cain supporters have been calling our office and they've been coming over to our side,' said Bachmann. 'They saw Herman Cain as an outsider and I think they see that my voice would be the one that would be most reflective of his.'

Likewise, Paul said he was optimistic that Cain's departure would reinvigorate his campaign.

'We're paying a lot of attention to that, because obviously they're going to go somewhere in the next week or so,' Paul said of Cain's supporters.

Santorum predicted that his campaign would pick up steam in coming days.

'We have a very strong, consistent conservative message that matches up better with Iowans than anybody else. And we think we're going to surprise a lot of people,' he said.

The stakes were highest for Mitt Romney, who likely had the most to lose with a Gingrich endorsement.

Romney is going strong in New Hampshire, which holds the nation's first primary on January 10.

A month before the first vote is cast in the Iowa caucus and five weeks before the New Hampshire primary, most GOP candidates were looking to a week of heavy campaigning in Iowa ahead of the next debate, scheduled for Saturday, the Associated Press reports.

Once surging in the polls, Cain dropped out of the race Saturday after battling allegations of sexual harassment and a claim that he had a 13-year extramarital affair.

The Georgia businessman has denied the accusations.

He came under further fire on Sunday when conservative columnist George Will called Cain an 'entrepreneurial charlatan' and accused him of being an opportunist.

In a roundtable discussion on ABC's This Week with Christiane Amanpour, Mr Will said: 'Mr Cain, who used this as a book tour, in a fundamentally disrespectful approach to the selection of presidents.'

If his campaign was just a book tour, it didn't net great results - This Is Herman Cain only sold about 30,000 copies.

Romney is also seen by most conservatives at this point as having the greatest chance of defeating President Barack Obama next year.

But Romney continues to be viewed with suspicion by many conservatives who say he has changed his stance on such critical issues as abortion and health care.

Santorum acknowledged Sunday that Romney has embraced more conservative positions on issues.

'The question is, you know, what's the sincerity of the move and whether he can be trusted,' said Santorum.

Bachmann said it was too soon to declare anyone a true front-runner because the dynamic in the race was constantly changing.

'We've got 30 days,' she said. 'That's an eternity in this race.'

Reince Priebus, the Republican Party chairman, said Sunday that he was indifferent to Cain's departure and that it was 'only natural' in the face of falling poll numbers and trouble raising money.

This week's agenda for the primary candidates included a stop in Arizona by Romney and a forum Wednesday by the Republican Jewish Coalition in Washington, which is expected to attract Bachmann, Gingrich, Huntsman, Perry, Romney and Santorum.

Gingrich was scheduled to meet Monday with real-estate mogul Donald Trump at Trump's New York offices.

Trump, who briefly entered the primary race in the spring and drew considerable publicity when he questioned the validity of Obama's birth certificate, said he would moderate a Republican presidential debate in Iowa on December 27.

Paul, who has clashed publicly with Trump, said he thought the GOP was making a mistake in giving Trump so much credibility.

'I don't understand the marching to his office. I mean I didn't know that he had an ability to lay on hands, you know, and anoint people,' Paul said.

Paul and Bachmann spoke on CNN's State of the Union. Santorum spoke on ABC's This Week. Priebus spoke on NBC's Meet the Press.

Cain says no endorsement coming soon

By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY Updated 2h 20m ago

So what about that presidential endorsement from Herman Cain?

The former Godfather's Pizza CEO told supporters in a conference call Monday that it's not going to happen anytime soon.

"I am not endorsing anybody today or in the very immediate future," he said on the call, which NBC News listened to after getting a tip. "I can't say I won't endorse, but not in the immediate time frame."

Cain's decision Saturday to suspend his campaign has shifted the GOP presidential race. There has been lots of speculation that he'll throw his support to Newt Gingrich, his friend who leads public opinion polls. Cain has close ties to some in the Tea Party movement -- a constituency that both Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry covet.

Perry appealed to Cain supporters in an open letter posted on his website, proclaiming himself to be "the only Washington outsider left in the race." Bachmann told CNN on Sunday that she believes Cain supporters would "come home" to support her.

    Stay tuned.

No and I bet it is because he found out he can keep the money and use it to benefit himself instead of forking it over to the party or runner of his choice... my opinion of course
