Lou Dobbs CNN's Lou Dobbs said today that he will not run for governor of New Jersey.

"I'm not considering anything right now in terms of running for governor and that's where I am," Dobbs said in a voicemail message. "As of now I, am not in anyway intending to run for political office."

Earlier this week, the sharp-tongued TV personality declined to comment on talk that he was considering entering the 2009 race for New Jersey's highest office. Dobbs. 62, is a longtime resident of Sussex County.

Word of a possible Dobbs run was dismissed quickly by both political parties.

Sussex County Republican Chairman Rich Zeoli said Dobbs "would have a bright future in politics if he ever decides to go down that road to get involved. Our hope would be he would first want to get involved with the Sussex County Repubilcan organization."

As for the governor's race, Zeoli said he still is hoping that U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie jumps in. "You're going to see a lot of the people in the party uniting behind him," he said.
