Juárez police officer gunned down

According to police, Omero Chavira Márquez, 35, was gunned down at his home located at 1401 120 Street in the Zootecnia neighborhood.

Juárez police said Chavira Márquez had been on medical leave due to an injury on June 30 when he was injured by gunfire while riding in the back of a police truck.

Police found 14 shell casings scattered around the body and believe that a Colt .38 Super was used in the attack.

Chavira Márquez joined the police force in 2002 and was stationed at the Guadalupe and Calvo station.
