    Newt Gingrich is toast!

    Talk about hypocrisy!

Gingrich Admits Affair During Clinton Probe

    By BEN EVANS
    AP

WASHINGTON (March 9) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich acknowledged he was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.

"The honest answer is yes," Gingrich, a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, said in an interview with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson to be aired Friday, according to a transcript provided to The Associated Press. "There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards."

Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity.

"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge," the former Georgia congressman said of Clinton's 1998 House impeachment on perjury and obstruction of justice charges. "I drew a line in my mind that said, 'Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept ... perjury in your highest officials."

Widely considered a mastermind of the Republican revolution that swept Congress in the 1994 elections, Gingrich remains wildly popular among many conservatives. He has repeatedly placed near the top of Republican presidential polls recently, even though he has not formed a campaign.

Gingrich has said he is waiting to see how the Republican field shapes up before deciding in the fall whether to run.

Reports of extramarital affairs have dogged him for years as a result of two messy divorces, but he has refused to discuss them publicly.

Gingrich, who frequently campaigned on family values issues, divorced his second wife, Marianne, in 2000 after his attorneys acknowledged Gingrich's relationship with his current wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide more than 20 years younger than he is.

His first marriage, to his former high school geometry teacher, Jackie Battley, ended in divorce in 1981. Although Gingrich has said he doesn't remember it, Battley has said Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was recuperating in the hospital from cancer surgery.

"There were times when I was praying and when I felt I was doing things that were wrong. But I was still doing them," he said in the interview. "I look back on those as periods of weakness and periods that I'm ... not proud of."

Gingrich's congressional career ended in 1998 when he abruptly resigned from Congress after poor showings from Republicans in elections and after being reprimanded by the House ethics panel over charges that he used tax-exempt funding to advance his political goals.

What a hypocrit is right. Does he think putting on an act of repentance before entering the Presidential race will win him support from Christians or is it a tactical measure. Deal with it now, before they find out all the messy details.

I don't think he would make a good President. Not just his personal issues, but creating the NAFTA mess is a BIG RED FLAG IN MY BOOK!!

Here's a good article to read below:

    Newt Gingrich is Un-American

    By Alan Scholl
    Published: 2006-11-29 19:51

    ARTICLE SYNOPSIS:
The former Speaker of the House and possible Presidential hopeful wants an American police state.

Follow this link to the source article: "Gingrich: Free Speech Should Be Curtailed To Fight Terrorism"

    COMMENTARY:
Newt Gingrich, the proto-commissar who gave us NAFTA, now proposes to turn the U.S. into a police state. In a speech at a banquet convened to honor those who stand up for free speech and the First Amendment, Gingrich, who is mulling a run for the presidency in 2008, said that freedom of speech should be abandoned in order to fight terrorism. "We now should be impaneling people to look seriously at a level of supervision that we would never dream of if it weren't for the scale of the threat," Gingrich said Monday night in his speech to the those attending the Nackey S. Loeb First Amendment award dinner.

Using the familiar technique of trying to scare people into surrendering their liberties, the would-be usurper continued: "Either before we lose a city or, if we are truly stupid, after we lose a city, we will adopt rules of engagement that use every technology we can find to break up their capacity to use the Internet, to break up their capacity to use free speech, and to go after people who want to kill us to stop them from recruiting people."

Gingrich also signaled his approval of British rules allowing the holding of suspects without charge for several weeks and said he thinks there needs to be sort of a Geneva Convention type of agreement defining which people the government can persecute without oversight. "We should propose a Geneva Convention for fighting terrorism, which makes very clear that those who would fight outside the rules of law, those who would use weapons of mass destruction, and those who would target civilians are, in fact, subject to a totally different set of rules that allow us to protect civilization by defeating barbarism before it gains so much strength that it is truly horrendous," he said.

There is absolutely no question that American government has a duty, and a Constitutional duty at that, to defend the nation. That includes not only the physical defense of people and property from harm, but also the defense of the natural, inalienable rights of Americans. Would government be turned to the purposes proposed by Gingrich, the power of the law would be used to destroy those very rights the government was created to protect.

Gingrich warns of the "scale of the threat" that the terrorists represent. This threat certainly exists and needs to be opposed, but not at the expense of subverting the republic from within. It doesn't make any difference if we lose the country through external attack or because, in fear, we surrendered our freedoms. Either way we lose. It's time to remember Ben Franklin's aphorism: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Newt is a loser. So does this mean we get to see another 3 months of what the real meaning of the word IS is?

I have posted this before, but it bares repeating. Right after NAFTA was passed I was watching C-Span and I caught Newt at the Davos meeting in Switzerland sitting at the dais, right next to Hillery and he said, (this is not verbatim) "He and he alone was responsible for getting NAFTA passed".

    He is a globalist.

When Clinton was going through his impeachment, I wondered how many of those prosecuting him were having affairs. I'm sure there are many more like Newt.

Did you hear the story on Lou Dobbs tonight about the DC madame who got arrested, her assets were frozen so she has no money to pay for her defense. She's threatening to sell her little black book and phone records with more than 15,000 phone numbers listed to the highest bidder, and she aready has received many bids. I'll bet there are a lot of nervous politicians in Washington. You should have seen the smile on Lou's face!

If only power didn't corrupt--but I guess that would be like asking a manic depressant to smile.
