DULLES, Va -- Customs agents at Dulles International Airport had a strange find over the weekend.

Agents found 7 pounds of cooked antelope and a whole cooked crocodile in the luggage of a woman arriving on a flight from Ethiopia.

Department of Homeland security spokesman Steve Sapp says crocodile is an endangered species.

"We see a lot of bush meat, some types of smaller animals because it's an normal staple of protein in Africa."

The meat was seized and the woman fined $300 for failing to declare a prohibited product.

Alleged Child Rapist Arrest, Iran Jewelry Seizure and Cooked Crocodile Cap Busy Weekend for Dulles CBP

    (Tuesday, April 05, 2011)

Sterling, VA. -- It was a typically busy weekend for Customs and Border Protection employees at Washington-Dulles International Airport as officers arrested an alleged child rapist and seized Iranian jewelry, while agriculture specialists seized a wholly cooked crocodile and nearly seven pounds of antelope meat this weekend.

Officers arrested Augusto G. Montalvo, 54, of Springfield, Va., on a Fairfax County arrest warrant after he arrived Saturday from Bolivia. Montalvo faces one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of animate object sexual penetration. Charges stems from a report filed with the Fairfax County Police Department on January 25. The victim was 12 years old at the time. CBP officers confirmed Montalvo’s identity and arrest warrant, and then turned him over to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police.

Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists discovered cooked cow’s feet and tetra pleura tetraptera, an African plant use as an herbal anti-inflammatory, concealed in the luggage of a passenger who arrived from Ghana to Washington Dulles International Airport April 4, 2011.

“Sexually assaulting anyone is a vicious crime, but allegations of assaulting a 12-year-old child are particularly heinous. CBP officers take great pleasure in returning dangerous fugitives like this to justice,â€

That's it, 300.00 lousy dollars. I spend almost that much feeding my family every week! Can any real justice be found in this country anymore?

Besides that, the meat could be tainted or diseased and could make someone deathly ill. Furthermore, the crockadile is on the endangered list in Ethiopia. It sounds like the lady was only fined for failing to declare a prohibited product. Why wasn't consideration given to the fact that the crockodile is on the endangered list? If it's illegal to possess the meat in Ethopia, than the lady should be sent back to face charges for her crime. I'm getting extremely tired of seeing so many of our law enforcement agencies slapping people on the wrist!

Oh, and also, if the lady is here on visa or has a green card, I say revoke and deport. She knew what she was doing was against the law.

Not very smart people.Should have skin that gator made a luggage bag out of that hid their food in it and it would have probably not been checked. They inspectors would have thought she was well off with money having a gator skin bag.
