It is not legal for a 14 year old to have a handgun, but this one had one. Just because they are young doesn't mean thay aren't crimnals and if criminals want them, they will have guns. JMO

Police seek teenager involved in home invasion and shooting

DECATUR — Police in Decatur are seeking a 14-year-old gunman who invaded a home to rob it and shot a woman in the hand in a struggle for his handgun.

The crime happened at 10:40 p.m. Sunday after police believe the teenager entered the house in the 800 block of East Lawrence Street through an open window. Several adults and a 4-year-old child were home but, during the course of the confrontation, one of the adults escaped the house with the child, according to Sgt. Shane Brandel.

“A struggle ensued with a female resident and the suspect as the female tried to get the gun from him,” Brandel said. “The gun went off and the female suffered a grazing gunshot wound to her hand; she did not seek treatment.”

The teenage gunman fled but the residents of the house knew his nickname and police were able to establish his identity from that.
He was being sought Monday on charges of home invasion.
