Los Rangers, for a day: The Rangers will don special Cinco de Mayo uniforms for the opener of their May 5-7 series against the New York Yankees. Made by Majestic and styled after the Rangers' home uniform, the jerseys will read "Los Rangers" across the chest and feature a commemorative Cinco de Mayo patch on the right sleeve.

Following the May 5 game, each team member will autograph their game-worn jerseys, and fans will have the opportunity to win them through a special raffle put on by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Dallas-Fort Worth non-profit organizations that assist the local Latino community. Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each at Rangers Promotions kiosks during home games through May 5, and the winners will receive their jerseys in a pregame ceremony May 23.

Also on May 5, Texas Chevy Dealers will sponsor a Los Rangers T-shirt giveaway for the first 10,000 fans ages 14 and over. Los Rangers T-shirts and replica jerseys also will be available for purchase in the Majestic Grand Slam Gift Shop at Ameriquest Field.

    Idiots.

Something tells me that they've never donned special "Remember The Alamo" or lone star Texas independence uniforms.

At least there are a few baseball players unwilling to sell out their citizenship:

"In recent weeks, following dialogue with caring friends and players, both Dominican and American, I reached the conclusion that if I played in the Classic, I would play for the United States and honor my American citizenship," Rodriguez said in a statement on his Web site.

"I appreciate the support and understanding of my fellow Dominican players and friends who aided me in making this decision. The World Baseball Classic offers baseball and its fans an exciting new forum and I look forward, if selected, to representing the United States in what will be baseball's greatest international competition."
    I know, I know...

    I hate The Yankees too.

    :P

But you have to give it up for A-Rod.

A total class act, and patriotic American.
