4.5 Million More Home Foreclosures Before Year End

Eighteen Million, Out in the Road

    By David Glenn Cox

    March 30, 2010

How cold and callous can we become? When, as a society and as a nation, we can undergo a massive earthquake under our very feet and before our very eyes, how can we just ignore its victims?

RealtyTrac, the California-based authority on property trends and valuations, projects 4.5 million home foreclosures before the end of this year. That’s 4.5 million homes, and with four people to a household that is eighteen million people. Eighteen million men, women and children put out into the road, people who must scramble to find shelter and scramble to find new schools for their children.

Last year it was 2.8 million homes or 11.2 million Americans put out into the road. In two years that is 29.2 million people just put out into the road.

“I gotta see them folks that’s gone out on the road. I got a feelin' I got to see them. They gonna need help no preachin' can give 'em. Hope of heaven when their lives ain’t lived? Holy Sperit when their own sperit is downcast an’ sad?â€

Unfortunately, writing and calling these days is dismissed as so much Oklahoma topsoil blown away in the dust bowl. I have never been so completely dismissed in my life. Phone calls to staffers are "yeah, I will make sure the Sen/Rep gets the message. Emails get an occasional response that since I am not a direct constitituent, what I say is of no importance. And undoubtedly, my faxes are used to light the barbecue for the Friday evening cookout.

YES. YES. This is all true. i know how you feel. i have felt that way before too. but can we, no, i mean we must think out of the box here. (i hate that quip too.)

IE: For what it's worth, when i called governor Schwarzeneggar the other day, i got the first name of the individual answering the phone. instead of berating him, and threatening his cat, oops, i tried to make a connection with him. his name is Thomas (one of Arnolds staff members) and i can only assume he may have the govs ear from time to time. No doubt my 2 emails are resting comfortably at the bottom of San Francisco Bay,but i intend to call "my" guy back, re-establish a connection (to the best of my ability) and see if perhaps i can sway him just a bit.

I did not get the impression that he was pro-amnesty, but perhaps he himself felt that some serious BS was going down. (remember i told him to tell the gov i had seen all his movies )

Will it change law enforcement policies in California? i don't know. but the phone call is free over a magic jack so i've really got nothing to lose, unless of course he sends the Guard to get me.

In which case i will simply say my name isn't wayneman, it's really Jose and i changed it because i felt threatened by evil forces trying to enforce terribly unjust laws that target me and only me.

Point is, try anything and everything. Probably they are smoking cigars and drinking Chardonnay laughing about the hillbilly that complained about illegals.

Or, for all i know, he and the governor are at this moment in a strategic strategy meeting trying to find a loophole that will allow them to challenge Homeland Security who has been ordered by that nice Obama guy to shut down even a wiff of talk about National Guard troops.

I'm doing what i can. what have yall done today? (how many calls to state governors have WE made today?)

"Never give up. Never surrender."-Commander Peter Quincy Taggert
