    My sixth grade class took a trip to Washington DC and one of the sights they pointed out to us was a temporary had government office building they built for immediate space built during World War I. By definition it should have been taken down some 49 years previously but it was still there. It is no longer there but it shows how a short term government problem was solved but ignored for so long. I would not be surprised if there were other places where attitudes like ths caused disasters.

    This is typical of the Corps of Engineers. Between them, crooked politicians, crooked contractors, and disinterested bureaucrats, is there any wonder the levees collapsed during Katrina? If Louisiana lets them get away with this, you will see another disaster in New Orleans.
