Tackling the Hydra..Politicians are Determined to Turn L.A.
If this concept of mass density continues, L.A. will look like a ghetto of 250 s.f. apts. filled with foreigners who are used to living conditions in China, India, and various third world countries! Mexican Mayor Villaraigosa said that "the days of the 2500 s.f. ranch house with a backyards and swimming pools ARE OVER! He wants to force everyone to abandon their cars, take mass transit, and live in teeny cubicles like rats. He cannot change the DNA of native residents...but the plan is to replace all of us! I'm sure he would love to use 'eminant domain' to tear down all single family homes in favor of massive ghetto housing projects! Sad!
Tackling the hydra

From The Economist print edition
Its politicians are determined to turn Los Angeles into a normal city
THIS week J. H. Snyder, a developer, broke ground for a new building in North Hollywood—a district in the San Fernando Valley where people shop for car batteries. Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles' mayor, turned up to declare it a model for future development. The event made the evening news. There can be few cities the size of Los Angeles where the prospect of a nine-storey office complex would cause such a fuss. But this one comes with a weighty expectation. At least some people are expected to get to it by public transport, or even on foot.
Los Angeles has long epitomised car-oriented sprawl. As early as 1946 the historian Carey McWilliams judged it “a collection of suburbs in search of a cityâ€

They must be planning something in Atlanta, but the traffic here is HORRIBLE and nothing is being done. Politicians act like it doesn't exist. They were going to make a huge second outer perimeter, but I haven't heard about that in at least 10 years now.

Also, townhouses are going up everywhere in ATL. I heard that's the old communist style of living.

GM greatly helped to make Los Angeles "car orientated", I wonder what they think of this "non-automobile" future?

Bowman...maybe GM can start making bicycles or motorized scooters, lol! Or maybe we can go back to the horse and buggy days!
Seriously, I wonder how many Angelenos would be willing to ride on busses and subways with millions of illegals and third worlders!!! I wonder how many Americans would be willing to stand at bus stops for 30 minutes at a pop! Has anyone ever noticed who waits at those bus stops??? I wonder how many Americans would be willing to walk or take public transit to the markets and carry home bags of groceries on the metroline! L.A. is the gang capital of the world, and the idiots in City Hall are trying to force us to give up our only safe means of transportation and walk the mean streets or take public transportation! It doesn't get any dumber than this!

It's being built for the Latinos, who will do all those things, who are used to crowed conditions, standing at bus stops, etc. You don't really think they had anybody else in mind, do you??
