    BP gets bad rep

I've been hearing and reading lots of storys about how bad the Border Patrol is and I know in many ways they have their hands tied but I am getting tired of hearing they don't do their job from city people who come out to the border with no idea of whats going on other that what they hear.
I live on the border and deal with BP almost daily and I can tell you these guys are good and dedicated to what they do, I have watched teams split up and follow tracks while other members go ahead and are directed to where they go and the group simply walks into them and tracking in the brush is not easy. One of our agents out here was stabbed in the neck while taking a guy into custody and another had a smuggler try to run him over with his car. These guys never know what they will run into when they go to work but their training and skill keep them going and doing a good job. I see these guys at work all the time and when I hear people who have no idea complain about them I get a bit worked up as I know they are out there doing their best to protect us all.

Here, here. Agreed. Thanks MD - I think a lot of us think these same things quietly to ourselves, but don't mention them enough.

Anyhow, this might be a good time to give a plug to those hard working, under appreciated (and underpaid to be sure!) folks that are 'in the trenches' with MUCH TOO LITTLE SUPPORT FROM THEIR UPPER MANAGEMENT... Thanks Guys/Gals!!! We realize your jobs must seem unbearable and/or impossible about now - but hang in there and do the best you can.

OK, that's just my 0.02 cents...

Thanks for the post MountainDog, you are surely right, the BP are underappreciated. I think the general public has been listening to too many special interet groups and the main stream media. I feel fortunate to be hanging out with all of you and hearing the truth. It is up to us to let everyone else know what is going on.
