By Kellan Howell - The Washington Times - Wednesday, September 16, 2015

A Phoenix police officer was shot and seriously wounded during an early morning Wednesday traffic stop, and the shooter or shooters are on the loose, city police said.

The officer was shot more than once shortly after initiating the traffic stop in central Phoenix around 2:45 a.m., Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said, CNN reported. The officer did not return fire.

“Thank goodness he was wearing his (body armor) vest,” police Chief Joseph Yahner told reporters, saying rounds did strike the officer’s armor.

The officer, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital and remained in serious condition Wednesday morning, but he is expected to recover.

Police said the shooter or shooters fled, but the vehicle involved in the stop was later found abandoned nearby.

Chief Yahner did not specify what the stop was for, or what prompted the shooting. He told reporters investigators were tracking down leads but did not name any suspects.

Sgt. Howard said investigators do not currently have any information linking the shooting on Wednesday to a series of shootings at vehicles along Interstate 10 in Phoenix.

A percentage of the population will emulate our president. If the president is a liar and/or lawless, much of the population will also be liars/lawbreakers. Then we make it worse by giving amnesty for the president while demanding justice from American citizens. I have wondered since Ford was President, how can that be called "equal justice under the law?"

Now we have Obama obviously breaking American law, and Congress will not even call him to task. I ask, how is that "equal justice for all?"

There is no one in D.C. that I voted for. I ask those who have favored by ballot representation, why are they in Congress if they do not believe in or enforce "equal justice for all?"

If we are setting free lawless Presidents, close the prisons and set the inmates free. It will save a very large amount of money!

PHOENIX - Police have identified a man who shot a Phoenix officer early Wednesday morning during a traffic stop.

The 40-year-old police officer with eight years of service was shot multiple times during a traffic stop around 2:45 a.m. near 12th Street and Campbell.

According to police, the officer was able to call for help as the suspects drove away from the scene.

Air15 video showed a heavy police presence near 12th Street and Indian School Road as officers closed in on the suspects.

Phoenix police confirmed three people, including the suspected shooter, were taken into custody around 1 p.m. after an extensive search.

The shooter has been identified as 26-year-old Michael James Rogers. Police found him at a home in that area with a handgun at the same location.

The two others arrested were believed to be in the vehicle with Rogers at the time of the incident, police said.

The suspect vehicle was found abandoned a short time after the shooting not far from the scene, according to police.

The officer was taken to the hospital in serious condition and was out of surgery Wednesday afternoon, police said. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Officer shot multiple times, three suspects in the car. Two of them had time to respond to prevent one or more shots going into the officer. After shot number one the driver could have sped away. Attempted murder of a police officer had better be the charge for all three suspects in that car!

I asked previously why are Congressmen who do not support law enforcement on President Obama in congress? No response very strongly suggests bad news.

Suspect charged in Phoenix officer’s shooting

PHOENIX — Authorities have charged a man in the shooting of a Phoenix police officer during a routine traffic stop.

Police said 26-year-old Michael James Rogers was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault and one count of unlawful flight. A 40-year-old officer was shot multiple times but was expected to survive.

Three people had been detained in the investigation of the 3 a.m. shooting that happened between Camelback and Indian School roads near 12th Street.

Police documents said Rogers told the two passengers in the car that he had warrants out for this arrest and would not go back to jail as he was being pulled over. He allegedly fired at least three shots as soon as the officer approached the vehicle before speeding off.

Phoenix police and investigators found what they believed to be the car the suspects were driving about 10 hours later at a home near 12th Street and Indian School Road.

“We have located them, some of them still in the area and detained them,” Phoenix Sgt. John Howard said. “They are being transferred down to the police station now for more in-depth interviews. We are confident that we have the right people.”

“The officer is at the hospital, thank goodness he’s going to be fine,” Phoenix Police chief Joseph Yahner said. “Thank goodness he was wearing his vest.”

The officer was hit in the chest, hip and arm. His bicep was “shattered,” police documents said.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued a Blue Alert, which was canceled within an hour after the suspect’s car was found close to the are of the shooting.
