LAPD Cops busted, laughing and “fistbumping” as they handcuffed nurse

LAPD Cops busted, laughing and “fistbumping” as they handcuffed nurse

Several Los Angeles police officers are under investigation after being caught on camera beating and repeatedly body-slamming a woman during what was a routine traffic stop in Tujunga.
Surveillance footage of the incident was first obtained by local NBC LA. It shows the officers pushing her into a squad car, then giving congratulatory fist bumps to each other, celebrating their abuse of the woman.

The woman, Michelle Jordan, is a 34-year-old mother and registered nurse who is from Sunland, California. She went public Tuesday, opening up about her experience. Now she is filing a personal complaint against the officers, according to local KTLA.
Sources from within LAPD tell the Los Angeles Times that Jordan was pulled over at a Del Taco restaurant because officers saw her talking on a cellphone while driving. Officials then claim that Jordan defied the officers’ orders to remain in her car and began challenging them, according to the Times.

The officers then arrested her, slamming her body to the ground twice. Jordan’s lawyer, Arthur Corona, described her a “defenseless woman in a sundress” and asks why officers felt the need to use such aggressive means against his client.
Sy Nafiz, another attorney for Jordan, said “If anyone on the street attacked an innocent woman, they would be in jail. We expect the LAPD officers to be held to the same standard.”

A Los Angeles Police Department captain has been removed from his command for his handling of an incident in which two of his officers were caught on surveillance tape slamming a handcuffed nurse to the pavement and then apparently fist bumping each other.
Michelle Jordan, 34, from Sunland, Calif., was allegedly pulled over for a cell phone violation on Aug. 21. A security camera at a Del Taco restaurant shows one of the officers shoving the woman to the ground. Once she is standing again, she is handcuffed and an officer body slams her to the ground and lands on top of her.
The two officers, who have not been identified, appear to give each other fist bumps after putting the woman in a patrol car.
LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck said in a statement Wednesday he has removed Captain Joseph Hiltner from his command. The officers involved in the incident have also been removed from field duties while the Internal Affairs Group conducts a criminal and administrative investigation.
Beck said, "I have serious concerns about this incident and I believe the commanding officer of Foothill Area was severely deficient in his response... Proper steps were not taken, including appropriate notifications and the removal of the involved officers from the field."
Hiltner could not be reached for comment.
Attorney S.J. Nazif, who will represent Jordan along with his partner Arthur Corona, told ABCNews.com his team is pleased Beck is taking these steps. However, Nazif said, it is not enough.
"It falls short of a resolution for our client, who has suffered physically and emotionally at the hands of these officers, and it falls short of providing a resolution of this problem that still plagues the LAPD," Nazif said.
Physicians are examining Jordan's injuries, which KABC reports include contusions to her face and body, according to police reports.
Beck has ordered the video of the incident to be played at all roll calls and said commanding officers will attend roll calls and discuss the use of force issues throughout the department.
"Every Los Angeles Police Officer, regardless of rank, will be held accountable for their actions," Beck said.

NYPD Officer Filmed Slamming Pregnant Woman to Ground

    Video at the page link:

An NYPD officer was filmed violently throwing a pregnant woman to ground early Saturday morning. Sandra Amezquita, who is five months pregnant, reportedly suffered vaginal bleeding after the incident, and her arms and stomach remain bruised.
The incident took place in Sunset Park, Brooklyn at about 2:15 am Saturday. Amezquita and her husband, Ronel Lemos, claim they approached the scene and attempted to intervene as police arrested their 17-year-old son, Jhohan, for possession of a knife.
The video, filmed by a witness, shows an NYPD officer slamming Amezquita to ground and handcuffing her before forcefully shoving another woman, identified by the New York Post as Amezquita's friend, to the street.
Amezquita was given a summons for disorderly conduct and Lemos was arrested for assaulting a police officer, reportedly after striking the officer who was arresting his son.
"The first thing I thought was they killed my baby, and they're going to kill my wife," Lemo told the New York Daily News on Tuesday.
"You would think the police would respect a woman that is pregnant," Amezquita added. "I was afraid something happened to my baby. I am still afraid that something is wrong."
The NYPD's Internal Affairs unit is reportedly investigating the incident, which took place just one week after an officer from the same precinct—the 72nd—was filmed kicking a street vendor. That officer was suspended and remains under investigation by Internal Affairs.

Woman hit by California officer gets $1.5 million

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman punched repeatedly by a California Highway Patrol officer on the side of a freeway in an incident caught on video will receive $1.5 million under a settlement, and the officer has agreed to resign.

    Video at the page link:

CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow confirmed the settlement in an emailed statement and an attorney for Marlene Pinnock confirmed the dollar amount for The Associated Press.
Wednesday's agreement came after a nine-hour mediation session in Los Angeles.
"When this incident occurred, I promised that I would look into it and vowed a swift resolution," Farrow's statement said. "Today, we have worked constructively to reach a settlement agreement that is satisfactory to all parties involved."
The statement said that Officer Daniel Andrew, who joined the CHP in 2012 and has been on paid administrative leave since the incident, "has elected to resign."
Andrew could still be charged criminally in the case. The CHP forwarded the results of its investigation of the incident to Los Angeles County prosecutors last month, saying he could face serious charges but none have been filed yet.

FILE - This Aug. 10, 2014 file photo shows Marlene Pinnock during an interview in Los Angeles. A wom …

The bulk of the settlement will take the form of a special needs trust for Pinnock, the CHP said.
Pinnock's attorney Caree Harper said the settlement fulfilled the two elements her side was looking for.
"One of the things we wanted to make sure of was that she was provided for in a manner that accommodated her unique situation in life," Harper said, "and that the officer was not going to be an officer anymore and we secured those things."
The July 1 video of Andrew punching Pinnock was captured by a passing driver and spread widely on the internet and television.
According to a search warrant made public in court documents last month, Andrew had just pulled Pinnock from oncoming traffic and she resisted by pushing him after multiple drivers called 911 to report her walking barefoot along the side of the freeway.
Andrew then straddled her on the ground as Pinnock resisted by "kicking her legs, grabbing the officer's uniform and twisting her body," the warrant said. Andrew "struck her in the upper torso and head several times with a closed right fist," the records say.
The warrant said Pinnock suffered no signs of physical injury and refused medical treatment. She was placed on a psychiatric hold for two weeks.
Pinnock has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been off her medication for two to three months before the altercation.
In an interview with the AP last month, Pinnock said she believed the officer was trying to kill her.
"He grabbed me, he threw me down, he started beating me," she said. "I felt like he was trying to kill me, beat me to death."

SC State Trooper Shoots Unarmed Man - Officer Fired from Job

    Video at the page link:

The video showing a shooting involving a state trooper and an unarmed man has been released to the public by police.

The video was taken from the dash camera installed inside 31-year-old Sean Groubert's vehicle during an encounter in which Groubert shot 35-year-old Levar Jones on September 4th at a Circle K gas station on Broad River Road.

Department of Public Safety Director Leroy Smith fired Groubert on September 19th after observing the video and reviewing a report from the State Law Enforcement Division.

In the video, Groubert can be heard asking Jones for his license. As soon as Jones reaches inside his vehicle, though, Groubert begins firing his weapon, shouting "get on the ground, get on the ground."

Jones, who was injured in the hip, stumbles away from the vehicle. He throws up his hands and can be heard asking Groubert "what did I do" and "what did I do sir?"

Groubert then tells Jones to put his hands behind his back. Ex-Officer Groubert was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Bond was set at $75,000.

The charges were brought by the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's office, which reviewed the findings of an investigation into the incident conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division.

A warrant states that audio and visual recordings, as well as written statements, indicate the shooting was without justification.

In dismissing Groubert, Smith called the facts of the case "disturbing."

Don’t Want to Get Raped by a Cop? Police Chief’s Advice, “Obey the traffic laws”

By Cassandra Rules on September 23, 2014

A Tulsa Sheriff’s Deputy has resigned after he has been arrested for sexually assaulting two women.

According to the department’s statement, Deputy Nuckolls has said he exposed himself to other women in his two years on patrol and has a problem being around pretty women. The department is now asking other victims to come forward.
Oklahoma has made headlines with three serial rapists in 3 weeks, all officers, as well as one police chief molesting children, Corrupt Frisco Cops reports.
Daniel Holtzclaw, an Oklahoma City police officer, is out on bail and on paid leave, charged with four counts each of sexual battery, indecent exposure, and oral sodomy; two counts of rape; and one count each of burglary and stalking. He would allegedly threaten to arrest women who refused to comply with his sexual demands.
Former Spavinaw Police Chief Gregory was back in court on Thursday for stalking his two underage molestation victims and following their school busses and parking outside of their schools to watch them, KJRH reported.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Roberts was arrested on Monday after complaints of kidnapping, rape and other crimes after three women alleged the officer sexually assaulted them while he was on duty.
Given this string of sexual assaults, Channel 2 News asked OK Highway Patrol Captain George Brown about their hiring process and background checks, as well as how to remain safe when dealing with police. His response? Don’t get stopped.
“Many times people want to know what to do, simply what do I do on a traffic stop? It’s an uncomfortable situation for everyone involved, for the officer who has to worry about officer safety and for the person, many times female, who are stopped. So, what we do, we suggest they first and foremost do your part and do what it takes to obey the traffic laws, not get stopped.”
Listen, Captain George Brown, instead of telling people how not to get raped, how about telling officers not to rape?
A busted tail light, just like a mini skirt, does not cause rape. Rapists and institutional tolerance cause rape.
Sexual misconduct is the second highest of all complaints nationwide against police officers, representing 9.3 percent in 2010, according to an unofficial study by the Cato Institute’s National Police Misconduct Reporting Project.
In 2010, 354 of the 618 complaints involved nonconsensual sexual acts, and over half of those involved where minors.
