Yemen is reported to hold some of the world’s greatest untapped oil reserves.

Most of the article sounds credible, except for this one statement. Last month, we were reading the same claims about Sunni western Iraq. North Yemen has always been destitute, but now there is oil under the sand dunes? Even if the oil drillers could find oil there, they couldn't pipe it out, not even by bribing the desert brigands to spare the pipeline. There would always be a renegade carrying Iranian p|astique.

The desert between north Yemen and Saudi Arabia has been no-man's land for at least 55 years, and probably for much longer than that. I wouldn't expect anything except trouble to be exported from those burning sands.
