Here is an email from the Steve Sauerberg Campaign that has decided to do this tongue-in-cheek take on the classic "Twas the Night Before Christmas." (Steve is running against Dick Durbin for the US Senate)

---------------------
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Senate
not a roll call was taken, not even an amendment;
the bills were stacked by the liberals with care
in order to spend our money on pork barrel projects everywhere;

The anti-war protesters were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of defeat danced in their heads.
Kennedy in his kerchief, and Schumer in his cap,
had just made sure the US army couldn't get their maps.

When out on the mall there arose such a clatter,
Reid sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
tore open the shutters and threw out taxpayer cash.

With an old liberal driver, so boring and disturbin,
I knew in a moment it must be Dick Durbin.
More rapid than all his cronies he came.
And he whistled, and shouted, and called his fellow liberals by name:

"Now,Stroger! Now, (ballet)Dancer(Rahm)! Now, Murtha and Hoyer!
On Kennedy, on Clinton, on Edwards and Blago!
To the small businesses, CEO's, and constituent families
Now TAX AWAY, TAX AWAY, TAX AWAY ALL!

And then, a thumping, I heard on the roof
it sounded like a liberal, of that I needed no proof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
down the chimney Dick Durbin came with a pound.

Durbin was chubby and plump, a "left" jolly old elf,
and I squirmed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
a wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave me to know I had more taxes to dread;

Instead of tax-cuts it was more pork-barrel spending for all,
as he emptied Illinois' pockets, and stockings letting them fall,
and laying his finger aside of his nose,
with a laugh and a nod, back to DC he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, with our tax dollars in his bag,
and away he flew waving a white flag.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
"Amnesty for all, with no end of spending in sight!"
