TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Government officials in Arizona and Mexico are urging people living along the border to make sure to get infants vaccinated from preventable diseases.

The Arizona Department of Health Services, the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission and other groups are hoping to get the message out to parents during the inaugural border-wide National Infant Immunization Week.

The week will be observed from Saturday until April 30.

Health officials said expanding immunizations for children along the U.S.-Mexico border advances goals of the Healthy Border Initiative, which seeks to improve health for everyone living along the border.

The Arizona Department of Health Services said their message to parents is: "Love them. Protect them. Immunize them."
