EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - It's been 30 years since "Animal House," that classic frat-boy comedy, was filmed in Eugene.
But the spirit of the toga party is still in the hearts of local residents.
The film will be profiled Wednesday night in a two-hour documentary "Animal House: The Inside Story" on A&E's Biography Channel.
Pangolin Pictures of New York came to Eugene in March to interview local people involved in the film.
Produced for less than $3 million, "Animal House" turned out to be one of the most profitable movies ever made.
It brought in $141.6 million at the box office.
The U.S. Library of Congress even deemed it a "culturally significant" film in 2001, selecting it for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Ok, it's a complete waste of bandwidth and server resources, but being that Populist has a, uh-hum, the Blutarsky avatar, well, I thought it was appropriate for the weekend

Thanks for the reminder Phred; a great piece of Oregon history. And remember:

Yep, I liked that one too jimpasz.
Honorable mention to one that flew even farther under the radar: 1941
That also had some ridiculous and funny stuff in it as well.
A note about Blues Brothers (from the FYI/"Did you know?" dept.)...
Back in about the mid 1970s as Belushi, Ackroyd and Chevy Chase, etc were being riding high from the SNL work, I think it was mostly Ackroyd, but possibly also Belushi that had caught a local NW blues band and was so enamored with their approach and demeanor, that 'it has been rumored', was the basis of the idea for the later Blues Brothers movie. I'll leave my source and the name of the band unmentioned - citing the no personal info or details rule - but, rest assured, the story is quite true.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
