No, 2015 is not New York City’s warmest Christmas

Dec. 25, 1889 was warmer.

The MSM is full of stories today like this touting today’s 66F NYC temp as the city’s warmest Christmas.




But on December 26, 1889, the New York Times reported that the temperature hit 65F in the city on Christmas.


So isn’t 66F warmer than 65F?


Not in this case as the 2015 66F reading has 126 post-1889 years of urban heat island effect built into it. So a 65F reading in NYC in 1889 means it was warmer then than today. Adding insult to injury, although we have about 100 ppm more CO2 in the air today, it was warmer then.
