They took away my lake.
I used to take my kids every summer to this lake where theycould swim and fish. Have a picnik, nothing fancy and it was free. Whwn we pulled in I told my husband the place looked dirty, beer cans, and food wrappers on the ground. We went a little further and there is spanish music blastin My 12 year old daughter had her bathing suit on and all the grown men were leering at her. This is very common. When I was ten or eleven years old I could not walk down my street without a bunch of them talking dirty and making that sound they make, something tlike ssssssss sssss. Its hard to write a sound. Anyway I packed up the kids and we went to the board walk. Never go to that park again even tho I pay taxes for it. Well they took it over. I hope the state throws them out for dirtying up the place, but they wont.

pattyk, know what you mean and how you feel. My own daughter was propositioned by a guy in his mid twenties. We called the police on him, and hopefully that gave him a scare enough to keep to himself.
With all manner of budget cuts to park locally, statewide and federally, it leaves many place vulnerable to become trashed by ingrates who feel entitled to use it and destroy it, with little thought about common courtesy to anyone else. If it is really bad and people in that community are really bothered, maybe suggest that all who love this park get together and start policing it and keeping it usable to citizens? Calling police/sheriff when there are troubles and after a bit, you can be sure things will take a turn for the better.
The lucky part in these government cuts, it leaves it up to the citizens to finally make things right. Done within the law, a community of citizens can make anyone who is abusing the parks, or trashing them, begin to feel uncomfortable."In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned.
