Expect this to be a big political news week with a political story that has just been broken by The Politico, an online publication that’ll be hard for partisans to dismiss as part of the “liberal news media.â€

Exclusive: 2 women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior

By JONATHAN MARTIN & MAGGIE HABERMAN & ANNA PALMER & KENNETH P. VOGEL | 10/31/11 5:52 AM EDT

During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.

The women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures.

In a series of comments over the past 10 days, Cain and his campaign repeatedly declined to respond directly about whether he ever faced allegations of sexual harassment at the restaurant association. They have also declined to address questions about specific reporting confirming that there were financial settlements in two cases in which women leveled complaints.

POLITICO has confirmed the identities of the two female restaurant association employees who complained about Cain but, for privacy concerns, is not publishing their names.

Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon told POLITICO the candidate indicated to campaign officials that he was “vaguely familiarâ€

Concerned Women for America wants answers from Cain

By ALEXANDER BURNS | 10/31/11 7:19 AM EDT

Concerned Women for America, the right-leaning women’s group, is calling on Herman Cain to say whether he faced complaints about his personal behavior from female employees at the National Restaurant Association who later left the organization with financial settlements.

CWA president Penny Nance told POLITICO: “I think Herman Cain needs to directly answer the question.â€

As a person who has been sued several times , by opportunistic wealth seekers, I can say that most attorneys will advise settlement. This does not sit well with principled people when they are sued unjustly. Law suits are cheap to file and expensive to defend. I would not put much stock in someone who had a legitimate complaint and did not take it the whole distance. Most "settlements" fall into this category.

I expected something like this to come out against Herman Cain sooner or later. Looks like they are not wasting any time trying to knock him out of the lead.

The allegations are supposedly about something he once said. People are calling it a Justice Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill type of situation.
Ron Paul in 2011 "[...]no amnesty should be granted. Maybe a 'green card' with an asterisk should be issued[...]a much better option than deportation."

Sounds like a smear campaign to me. I would be very surprised if the ACCUSATIONS turned out to be true. While I'm not crazy about his 9% national sales tax, I believe Cain is a good man- not a whore like Clinton was. Certainly he is more fit to run the country than the clown we have now.
