Ohio Senate repeals public sector collective bargaining law

With the overwhelming media attention being afforded to the union protests in Wisconsin right now, some may not know that on Wednesday the Ohio state Senate passed a bill that repeals their 1983 collective bargaining law and replaces it with a merit-pay system. The Public Employee Collective Bargaining Law (Senate Bill 5) was passed by a slim vote of 17-16, with six Republicans joining all ten Democrats voting “no.â€
