    Rising waters swamp Bangladesh island

    Rising waters swamp Bangladesh island
More than a million residents of Bhola face bleak future as climate refugees as level of water wipes out villages.

The UN panel for climate change has warned that humanity is facing even greater risks because of global warming.
It highlights a few key areas under stress including rapidly melting ice caps that contribute to rising sea levels.

In Bangladesh, for instance, the rising sea level and river erosion have seen half of Bhola island disappear in just 40 years.

Bhola is often called the 'ground zero' of climate change, and the island's 1.5 million residents face a bleak future as climate refugees.

Al Jazeera's Maher Sattar reports from Bhola.
