Your Email: Two parents were arrested after police said they found their young child left home alone in a bedroom with the door nailed shut.

Police said around 1:30 p.m. in the 10,000 block of Felicia Court in Manassas they were responding to a parking complaint. When they were trying to get a hold of the owner of the car, they found the two boys, ages four and five, were home alone.

The two boys were left in a bedroom by themselves while their parents were at work, police said according to their investigation. Two officers said they had to remove boards nailed to the door to get the children out.

The children were turned over to child protective services. The parents, Irma Hernandez Cruz, 23, and Evelio Hernandez Cruz, 29, were charged with two counts of felony child abuse/neglect. They were each held on $5,000 bond.
