Schwarzenegger cuts target schools, services, workers
Schwarzenegger cuts target schools, services, workers
To help end California's budget nightmare, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is proposing an additional $2.8 billion in cuts that will fall heavily on education and social services. He also wants to cut the pay of state workers under his authority by 5%.
If the governor prevails with the Legislature, the state would eliminate $680 million for K-12 education, stop paying for school buses and end in-home care for most recipients. Only the most severely disabled Californians would receive some state aide.
Schwarzenegger also foresees saving $100 million by suspending certain state rules, such the numbers of days animal shelters are required to keep strays alive.
Here are the numbers.
Earlier this week, the governor unveiled other budget cuts that would close up to 220 state parks and other attractions that draw millions of visitors.
Schwarzenegger is opposing further tax increases. He and lawmakers raised taxes and fees by $12 billion in the budget approved in February. California voters rejected a range of tax increases and funding cuts in a special election May 19.
The state's budget hole is expected to grow to $24.3 billion through June 2010.

There are billions in the free services and benefits given to those who are here illegally. Stop that and the sunshine state may have brighter days. Just imagine it.
Galatians 6:9Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

That is what I don't understand about this state. If he would cut services to illegals, then all people would not have to suffer. Our schools would not have to suffer. What is the matter with our state and local governments. I went to a school's 50th anniversary. The kids put on a show. There were mostly hispanic people going to this school. I am not against hispanics, please, but more than half were English learners. If they would cut the funding for these kids that would save alot also. They should have separate schools so that the English speaking students don't suffer. After they are literate in speaking and reading, then the citizens could join the other kids.

First of all,California has millions upon millions of illegals. I think the numbers are understimated in most reports. There are so many of them and so many legal hispanics who vote hispanics and far-left kooks into the legislature that there is no way they will cut-off the illegals. The Governor cannot do it on his own. Callifornians rebelled back in early 90's. We voted prop 187 in which would have eliminated the services to illegals. A liberal judge, appointed by Jimmy Carter ruled it "unconstitutional." That was the beginning of the end to Calif. AND it is going to happen to the entire country. Look what is happening re:Sotomayor. No one cares about anything other than the hispanics. We no longer matter.
