Patricia Millett proves that volunteerism does pay off. During the Fall of 2008, the now Judge Millett, served as a volunteer legal advisor for the Obama campaign. The accomplished lawyer is now a one of the judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which is considered the second highest court in the US. She has made a specialty of trying cases in the federal courts, even appearing before the Supreme Court several times, both as part of the US Solicitor General's Office under Clinton and Bush and as a lawyer and partner with Akin Gump. Patricia Milllett was confirmed under the new rules that limited the filibuster.

Patricia Millett experience

Here is part of the biography of Patricia Millett listing her experience.
Patricia A. Millett co-heads Akin Gump's Supreme Court practice and the firm's national appellate practice. She has argued a total of 32 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and approximately 36 in the courts of appeals. She has briefed scores of cases in the Supreme Court and appellate courts across the nation. On June 4, 2013, she was nominated by President Obama to serve as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
White House statement on the confirmation
Here is the statement from the White House on the confirmation of Patricia Millett.
I'm pleased that in a bipartisan vote, the Senate has confirmed Patricia Millett to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, filling a vacancy that has been open since 2005. Ms. Millett is a leading appellate lawyer who has made 32 arguments before the Supreme Court, the second-most by a female advocate. She has served in the Department of Justice for both Democratic and Republican Presidents. I'm confident she will serve with distinction on the federal bench.
