Health agency in Canada’s British Columbia province includes PRO-EUTHANASIA slideshow in pension packages for the elderly

A shocking report has revealed that a health authority in Canada's British Columbia (BC) province has been promoting euthanasia using a slideshow that it is supposedly sending through emails to healthy seniors’ groups.According to the report, which was obtained by Will Potter from the Daily Mail, the PowerPoint slideshow was allegedly from Fraser Health Authority (FHA), a large healthcare region in a suburban area of Vancouver, BC.
The slideshow actively promotes euthanasia in information packets for pension packages for the elderly. It featured text such as "expressions of wanting to die." It also said euthanasia could be used to "promote a sense of control," along with slides claiming that customers could die by euthanasia within one day.
BC province reports a 24% increase in euthanasia cases

According to data, the province has seen a significant 24 percent increase in medical assistance for dying, or MAID, Canada's term for legal euthanasia and assisted suicide. Overall, at least 2,515 people died from MAID in 2022 in BC alone.
The email to seniors included information about a "track system" that detailed several options for MAID, those being when death is "reasonably foreseeable" or when it is "not reasonably foreseeable."
For seniors whose death is "not reasonably foreseeable," FHA said they will first be required to go through 90 days of assessments. Symptoms that fall under the option include chronic pain and fibromyalgia, but the Canadian government has announced plans to allow people to die under the practice solely due to mental illness by March 2024.

Meanwhile, the slideshow revealed that there is no waiting period for patients with terminal illnesses, with one slide even indicating that the process for euthanasia or assisted suicide can last as short as one day, provided that the patients file the proper request and undergo at least two assessments.
    FHA targeting pro-life hospice societies

Details from a recent incident also suggest that the FHA has a history of targeting pro-life hospice societies.
On March 29, 2021, the Delta Hospice Society (DHS) was evicted from its two buildings after 35 years after the authority canceled the pro-life group's lease. The eviction was allegedly due to DHS's refusal to allow euthanasia at its palliative care facility.
FHA took both the Irene Thomas Hospice and the Supportive Care Centre without compensation for DHS’s assets, which had an estimated value of $9 million. (Related: Canada to become ASSISTED SUICIDE capital of the world.)
To date, DHS is forced to operate out of a small office. It still manages a store, The Hospice Cottage Charity Shoppe, which serves as the DHS's main source of revenue.
Angelina Ireland, DHS's president, recently warned, that pro-euthanasia lobbying groups are targeting Catholics.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government legalized euthanasia in 2016. Since then, recorded deaths have gone up under its MAID program.
There has also been a continued push to further expand who can qualify for doctor-assisted death.
The allowance of MAID for those diagnosed with mental illness came in 2021 with Bill C-7, which allowed both the terminally ill and the chronically ill to qualify for doctor-assisted death.
The mental illness expansion was previously slated to take effect in March.
But after resistance from pro-life groups, conservative politicians and other groups, the Liberals under Trudeau delayed the introduction of the full effect of Bill C-7 until 2024 via Bill C-39, which became law on March 9 this year.
Unless a new federal government gets elected in 2024, MAID laws will expand to those with mental illness.
The Conservative Party under leader Pierre Poilievre is against expanding MAID laws but has not released a statement if it would repeal all euthanasia laws.

Anti-euthanasia group vows to keep fighting Trudeau government’s plan to include mentally ill people in ASSISTED SUICIDE program

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) has decided to reschedule its planned rally against the federal government after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau postponed the expansion of its assisted suicide program to the mentally ill. But the fight continues.
Canadian Health Minister Mark Holland announced on Jan. 29 that Ottawa will be postponing its plan to include the mentally ill people in the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program. According to Holland, the postponement sought to ensure the system is adequately prepared. "We agree with the conclusion that the committee has come to: That the system is not ready and more time is required," he said.
Holland didn't give an exact time frame, but he assured the media that the expansion would happen. He confirmed that they still plan to proceed with MAiD for mental illness, but "those individuals are [going to] have to wait a little longer."
As a response, the EPC – a staunch advocate for the prevention of euthanasia – has moved its rally and press conference to Feb. 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Parliament Hill. The rally, originally slated on Feb. 6, seeks to bring attention to the ethical and moral concerns surrounding medical assistance for those dying of mental illness.
The organization has arranged a series of speeches starting at 11 a.m., with notable speakers including EPC Executive Director Alex Schadenberg, human rights lawyer Lia Milousis and outspoken family physician Dr. Paul Saba. The EPC also disclosed that additional speakers are to be announced in the coming days.
Several Members of Parliament (MPs) and other key figures are expected to join the event. The EPC then invited the public and the media to participate in the event, urging citizens to join their advocacy.
"The EPC is thankful that the federal government is delaying the implementation of euthanasia for mental illness but we will continue to demand that the government change direction and completely stop the implementation of euthanasia for mental illness," Schadenberg wrote.
Conservative MPs and advocacy organizations oppose MAiD expansion

Since the Canadian government announced its plan to expand MAiD, MPs and advocacy organizations in Canada have been consistently mobilizing their efforts to block the extension of euthanasia to mentally ill people.
For instance, Conservative MP Ed Fast submitted Bill C-314, titled "An Act to amend the Criminal Code (medical assistance in dying)," to curtail the broadening scope of MAiD.
During the second reading of Bill C-314 on May 17, 2023, in the Canadian House of Commons, Fast voiced concerns about the intentions to expand MAiD, particularly for those with mental health problems. Fast argued that the proposed expansion would encompass "more and more defenseless Canadians, most particularly those living with disabilities."
"What is equally disturbing is that the Liberal government has also signaled its intention to extend the so-called 'treatment option' to minor children. That would arguably make Canada the most expansive, most liberal assisted suicide jurisdiction in the world," said Fast.
Fast argued that his bill seeks to reverse the expansion of MAID and specifically prevent its extension to individuals with mental illnesses.
"Canadians have a right to conclude that the Liberal government has gone too far and too fast in its zeal to implement and expand the scope of assisted death. My bill will reverse this momentum and repeal the government's decision to extend MAID to the mentally ill. It will put a full stop to the expansion of assisted suicide to mentally disordered persons," the Conservative MP said at the time.
