Google will warn of 'state-sponsored attacks'
Google will warn of 'state-sponsored attacks'
Updated 5h 53m ago
BEIJING (AP) — Google Inc. has added a warning to users whose accounts it believes are the targets of "state-sponsored attacks."
Wednesday's announcement on a Google blog says the warning will appear if the company believes users are being targeted by attempts to steal their passwords and break into their accounts.
Google said it could not give details but analysis and reports by victims "strongly suggest" the involvement of states or groups that are state-sponsored.
Google closed its search engine in China in 2010 after saying it no longer wanted to cooperate with the communist government's Internet censorship following a hacking attack traced to the country.
