HAMILTON — Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones wants Mexico to "show him the money" for the local costs in fighting recent illegal drug traffic coming from south of the border.

A letter has been sent to Mexican President Felipe Calderon along with a bill for $61,141.25. Jones says that is fair compensation for costs related to a recent drug bust where deputies netted more than 50 pounds of marijuana they believe came from Mexico.

"It would really be nice if they pay, but I honestly don't think they will," Jones said. "My real goal is to get their attention and make them want to do something about this. I am angered at all the problems that I am forced to face and Butler Countians are forced to pay for. Someone needs to stand up and say 'enough is enough.' I guess I'm the guy that's supposed to do that.

"If they (Mexico) don't want to pay my bill. I'd be willing to settle for their help in slowing the drug traffic and sealing the border."

All state, federal, and local governments should sendd bills to Mexico. In addition to cost of jails, they should include cost of infrasturture replacement due to increased usage caused by illegals. Hospitals and schools should also send bills. Maybe then our schools could afford good education for our children and hospitals wouldn't be closing due to bankrupty.

Copies of all bills should put on the net and sent to congress so that they know the true cost.
