Value Added Tax Hidden in Health Reform

With spending at nearly 25 percent of GDP and headed for more than 40 percent of national output, according to the liberal Progressive Policy Institute, how will the Democrats pay for it all?

The evidence points toward the way big-government, slow-growth Europe does it: the value added tax.

Working as a sales tax that you don’t get to see on your receipt, the VAT has proven to be a brutally efficient money machine in other countries. Maybe that’s why Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi last month told Charlie Rose that a VAT was “on the tableâ€

Have they gone totally nuts? A VAT on medical devices will only get passed onto the consumers that benefit. Put a VAT on stent manufacturers, that cost will get passed on to the insurance company, if one is insured, and the premiums will go up, or directly to the patient without insurance, who will never be able to pay the bill, especially if they are unemployed.
The goal of any business is to make a profit, and profit comes on the backs of the consumers--PERIOD!
Excuse me while I find more things to throw.
