Police in southeastern Michigan have seized $2.5 million in cocaine from a truck carrying industrial wallpaper to Detroit from Los Angeles.

The Monroe County Sheriff's office says the tractor trailer was stopped Sunday morning on Interstate 75 south of Detroit for several equipment violations. The truck was driven by a 50-year-old man from Norwalk, Calif., and a 46-year-old co-driver from Anthony, N.M.

A hidden compartment was discovered with the help of a narcotics dog. The compartment contained 88 pounds of cocaine.

Police say the drugs and semi were seized and the incident remained under investigation Tuesday.
