President Obama best step very carefully into the minefield of increased taxes, because a new poll shows millions of Americans who voted for him last year say their future support will depend on the cost of government.

Zogby International, in conjunction with "The O'Leary Report," recently completed a 100 Days Poll on the Obama administration's actions and policy plans, revealing that a majority of those who voted for Obama disagree with him on many key issues.

The poll was done April 24-27 and surveyed 3,937 voters nationwide. It has a margin of error of 1.6 percentage points. Only voters who took part in the 2008 presidential election were surveyed, and the sample was weighted to reflect the outcome, with 53 percent of the participants Obama supporters and 46 percent McCain supporters.

Fully one in five of those who voted for Obama – about 13.9 million people – say they would be less likely to vote for him if he breaks his promise not to raise taxes on citizens who earn less than $250,000 a year.

Only one in 10 said they would be more likely to support Obama, 20 percent said they would be less likely, and about two-thirds said it would not be a factor for them, according to the survey commissioned by O'Leary, who wrote "Shut Up, America! The End of Free Speech," a look at anti-First Amendment efforts emanating from Washington

The poll also showed Obama supporters actually oppose him on a number of other hot button topics, including gun control, free enterprise and censorship.

The poll revealed:

* 50 percent of Obama's supporters think the government should enforce existing gun laws rather than adopt new controls. Forty-four percent took the opposite view.

* Forty-nine percent of Obama voters think property should be privately owned and controlled, whereas 28 percent support government ownership and control.

* Seventy percent of Obama voters oppose a plan to grant him the power to shut down the Internet in the case of an undefined emergency.

* Another Obama censorship move, to create local boards to police radio stations, was opposed 41 percent to 39 percent among his own constituency.

* And 45 percent of Obama's supporters disagree with his statement that America is not a Christian nation. Further, nearly half disapproved of his "purposefully concealing a symbol for Jesus Christ prior to a speech" at Georgetown University.

Also, nearly two out of three Obama voters do not think doctors and nurses who disagree with abortion should be compelled to perform abortions against their will – a threat contained in the Obama-supported "Freedom of Choice Act" plan.

The report said Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel also recently proposed that the million people the government already has put on the "no-fly" list should be prohibited from purchasing a gun – even if they are not guilty of a crime and they may not even be the person targeted by the list.

Six of 10 Obama supporters disagreed with that, the poll said.

Regarding being armed, two-thirds said U.S. crews on ships traveling in pirate-infested waters off Somalia should be armed.

On other issues, nearly seven in 10 Obama supporters favor legalizing marijuana, and only one in five supports the efforts of the April 15 tea party demonstrators who oppose the massive government spending and the consequent higher taxes expected to come

O'Leary, along with WND's Joseph Farah, has worked to address government censorship plans andorganized the first-ever "talk-show summit" in Washington recently. The event brought together a diverse group of the nation's top hosts and producers, representing some of the biggest shows in the country.

The fruits of the effort are beginning to show – with a new organization headed by talk host Roger Hedgecock called American Radio Free Speech.

It's time to put up or shut up, America. Literally. Get the book that shows how to fight the assault on your freedom of speech!

Of enormous concern to O'Leary and the new coalition is the changing political complexion of the Federal Communications Commission, currently composed of two Democrat and two Republicans. Obama has nominated a new chairman, Julius Genachowski, which would give Democrats a 3-2 majority once he is confirmed.
