'Our Founding Fathers Didn't Have This in Mind': Teacher Who Survived Florida Shooting Calls for Action

Following the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, a teacher who survived the massacre is calling for action.

Alicia Blonde, who taught alleged gunman Nikolas Cruz at the school several years ago, revealed on "Shepard Smith Reporting" that two of her students were among the 17 killed on Wednesday: Joaquin Oliver and Alex Schachter.

"I know that people cloak themselves in the Second Amendment -- the right to bear arms -- but our Founding Fathers didn't have this in mind," Blonde said. "Our Founding Fathers didn't believe that somebody could walk into a school and ... kill 17 people in a matter of seconds and injure 14 others."

She said we as a society must do something to protect our children.

"How many more of these events do we have to have before something is done, before these politicians stop refusing to cross the aisle and do something to protect their citizens?" Blonde said.

She vowed -- as an American citizen and a survivor of a mass shooting -- to fight to change laws that endanger American lives.

This woman said she is an immigrant and now a citizen, she was brought here by her parents from Cuba in 1962. So as an immigrant, there's obviously a lot about our country she doesn't know.

In the United States, your security is something you manage. All your school had to do was lock the doors during class-time, the same as manufacturing companies, hospitals, commercial establishments, office buildings, government facilities, and every other intelligent operation does to prevent unauthorized entry as simple security measures.

This isn't the fault of Americans, or American Society, or the federal government, or anyone but your school security procedures which tragically proved totally inadequate because this shooter walked right in through an unlocked door to a stairwell and shot up the place. He was even spotted on his way across the grounds and calls were made, but because the doors were unlocked, he got in before you could do anything.

Just lock your damn doors during class-time. It's the easiest thing in the world to do.
