New Bacterial Infection Linked to Military

Report: Troops Transmitted Mysterious Bacteria That Has Killed 7 And Affected Military And Civilians Alike

    By JOHN HENDREN
    Feb. 8, 2008

Doctors have linked the bacterium acinetobacter baumannii to at least seven deaths, as well as to loss of limbs and other severe ailments, according to the report, which found the bacterium has spread quickly since the war in Afghanistan began in the fall of 2001

Acinetobacter baumannii has been found in military hospitals in Germany, the Washington, D.C., area and Texas -- the primary destinations of wounded service members from the two war zones. And it has now spread to civilians, according to the report.

"The outbreak began traveling with patients or nonpatients from Iraq all the way back to Walter Reed," said Dr. Rox Anderson at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Timothy Endy, a retired Army colonel now teaching infectious disease medicine at the Upstate Medical University of the State University of New York, said the outbreak might be the largest of its kind to spread through hospitals in history.

Doctors quoted in the magazine article agreed. "Of the infectious disease problems that come out of the conflict, it is the most important complication we've seen," Dr. Glenn Wortmann, acting chief of infectious disease at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, said in the February issue of Proceedings, published by the U.S. Naval Institute, a professional organization focused on naval issues.

The report was released to subscribers of the magazine this week.

This bug is not Gulf War Syndrome, and it is not the result of biological warfare. These Superbug strains of Acinetobacter baumannii from the military evacuation route from Iraq and Afghanistan are the result of Pure Negligence. Our troops were sent into war underfunded, undermanned, and completely unprepared to deal with the results. Our field hospitals were never prepared to deal with the onslaught of casualties. Equipment was filthy, doctors and staff were overworked, the most basic of supplies were not available. The strains of Acinetobacter baumannii from the military originated in Europe, Germany, where much of the medical equipment was forwarded to Iraq. They were fast tracked to nearly complete drug resistance by the misuse of antibiotics by doctors trying desperately to save lives and limbs. This is just another big screw up by our government. It wasn't even intentional.Rather than deal with it and contain it, they put more effort into covering it up.Steve Silbermans story at http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.02/enemy.html is extremely well documented and tells the whole story up to the time he wrote it last year.Since that time it has been allowed to spread like wildfire while no one, including ABC would talk about it.Hundreds, probably thousands, of lives have been lost this bacteria.Read Steves story, check out my site www.iraqinfections.org, and stay out of the hospital wherever you are.

This is most likely a designer disease created by the globalist elite who want to exterminate eighty percent of us. HIV was "designed" to be a pandemic, and was introduced to North America in nine US cities who decided (out of the goodness of their hearts you understand,) to immunize gay men for hepatitis B. :"Coincidentally,' those cities were the first to have people mysteriously die from an unknown immunodeficiency virus.Mark EarhartRinggold GAhttp://alliancewithnone.blogspot.com

This was called "Gulf War Syndrome" when I was in during the early 90's. Could it be leftover biological warfare or chemical? Who knows...but one thing is certain, Sadam had them. According to one of his generals (Sadan) he tried to move the majority to Syria right before we attacked for this present war. Best to just pray a hedge of protection around our troops!

Military men are sucking the country dry. Spend over 600 billion on military, unofficially it is a trillion. The elites of this military do not care about a handful of soldiers when their legacy is more important.

Yes, this story is very vague and misleading. It was the typical cut and paste from a real story with an excitable headline.I have asked every Main Stream News organization in this country over and over for the last 4 years to please investigate this dangerous bacteria and inform the public. They could have saved many lives and limbs if they could have been bothered.http://www.iraqinfections.orgwww.aci...rbaumannii.org

It is vague because the real reason for the bacterial invasion is illegal aliens from Mexico. This is a mass coverup by the Bush Administration and the corrupt politicians. The news media loves it when they are fed information that blames the military. Wake up people and put the blame where it belongs. The worst is yet to come.

spend_a_buck1985 8:49 AM - Call it the Clinton plague? ? Nah, that won't work. You're attempting to rewrite history here. Hmm We could call it the Bushes (plural) plague though. Now, that works.

First, there is nothing mysterious about these strains of Acinetobacter baumannii from the military evacuation system. The military has known since 2004 that they were the origin and cause of the empowerment and spread.Acinetobacter baumannii is a nosocomial infection which means it is a hospital acquired infection. This bug has spread to civilian facilities all across the US, the UK, Australia and other "coalition countries". Civilian contractors wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan take this bug with them directly to civilian hospitals from Landstuhl. For the whole story go to www.iraqinfections.org

Of course the report is vague. They always are concerning the military. That's called a government cover up. This has happened before in other wars, but the coverage gets swept under the rug. I think in the 50's they called that propaganda. By the way, George H. Bush was president when the gulf war started, and George W. was president at the start of this Iraq war. What does Clinton have to do with it?

This is nothing more than another example of scaring the stuffing out of people, without any scientific information to support the story. Typical doom and gloom

Dear ABC News, please provide real information we can use. Do not simply hype something then tell us nothing. That is really not good.

Okayyy....So what is this new bacteria, and how is it transmitted? You people aren't giving the public any information except that it's new, it's from Iraq and Afghanistan, and it can be transmitted to civilians. How? We have family fighting in those countries. What is the American government doing to combat this? Or will this become another one of those Agent Orange problems that surfaces AFTER all the troops come home and then treated improperly.

Whatever happened to degauzing military people after they've returned from a war zone? Did that stop after the Vietnam war or something?
