House Dem hasn’t ‘seen this much panic’ in Congress ‘since 9/11′

Washington Examiner House Democrats are terrified of a Republican attempt to allow people to keep their current health insurance plans, according to one lawmaker who compared the mood in Congress to the reaction to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

“I haven’t seen this much panic on this floor since 9/11,” Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., said on the House floor as lawmakers debated the Keep Your Health Care Plan Act offered by Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.

McDermott opposes the bill, which — by allowing people to remain out of Obamacare — would make insurance more expensive for people in the exchanges.

McDermott also expressed some confusion about capitalism. “The free enterprise system is lions and they’re eating antelopes,” he said.”
