Cornyn to Obama: Stop With the Enemies Lists

Cornyn to Obama: Stop With the Enemies Lists

The White House call for people to inform on anyone spreading "disinformation about health insurance reform" didn't sit well with a lot of people -- Obama isn't running a political campaign anymore, he's supposed to be running the country (and in the event even those who spread video clips of the president making statements on health care reform that are now impolitic have been targeted by the White House). Texas Senator John Cornyn has written a letter to the president politely asking if he could please put an end to the creepiness:

“I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy’ or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests,â€

    an email from Dem Party:

    Dear XXXX,

There's been a lot of media coverage about organized mobs intimidating lawmakers, disrupting town halls, and silencing real discussion about the need for real health insurance reform.

The truth is, it's a sham. These "grassroots protests" are being organized and largely paid for by Washington special interests and insurance companies who are desperate to block reform. They're trying to use lies and fear to break the President and his agenda for change.

Health insurance reform is about our lives, our jobs, and our families -- we can't let distortions and intimidation get in the way. We need to expose these outrageous tactics, and we're counting on you to help. Can you read these "5 facts about the anti-reform mobs," then pass them along to your friends and family?

5 facts about the anti-reform mobs

    1. These disruptions are being funded and organized by out-of-district special-interest groups and insurance companies who fear that health insurance reform could help Americans, but hurt their bottom line. A group run by the same folks who made the "Swiftboat" ads against John Kerry is compiling a list of congressional events in August to disrupt. An insurance company coalition has stationed employees in 30 states to track where local lawmakers hold town-hall meetings.

    2. People are scared because they are being fed frightening lies. These crowds are being riled up by anti-reform lies being spread by industry front groups that invent smears to tarnish the President's plan and scare voters. But as the President has repeatedly said, health insurance reform will create more health care choices for the American people, not reduce them. If you like your insurance or your doctor, you can keep them, and there is no "government takeover" in any part of any plan supported by the President or Congress.

    3. Their actions are getting more extreme. Texas protesters brought signs displaying a tombstone for Rep. Lloyd Doggett and using the "SS" symbol to compare President Obama's policies to Nazism. Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil was hanged in effigy outside his district office. Rep. Tim Bishop of New York had to be escorted to his car by police after an angry few disrupted his town hall meeting -- and more examples like this come in every day. And they have gone beyond just trying to derail the President's health insurance reform plans, they are trying to "break" the President himself and ruin his Presidency.

    4. Their goal is to disrupt and shut down legitimate conversation. Protesters have routinely shouted down representatives trying to engage in constructive dialogue with voters, and done everything they can to intimidate and silence regular people who just want more information. One attack group has even published a manual instructing protesters to "stand up and shout" and try to "rattle" lawmakers to prevent them from talking peacefully with their constituents.

    5. Republican leadership is irresponsibly cheering on the thuggish crowds. Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner issued a statement applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to "a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress."

It's time to expose this charade, before it gets more dangerous. Please send these facts to everyone you know. You can also post them on your website, blog, or Facebook page.

Now, more than ever, we need to stand strong together and defend the truth.

    Thanks,

    Jen

Good for Senator Cornyn! It is spooky, especially now that the FDA is requesting that the public report suspected fraudulent H1N1 products or criminal activity. It's just a matter of time before we're asked to spy on everyone about anything!!!

"To report suspected fraudulent/illegal activity related to FDA-regulated products associated with H1N1 Flu Virus, please describe in detail the suspected fraudulent/illegal activity below.

Notice: Your submission is voluntary and will be anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself. However, be advised that your decision to remain anonymous may limit or prevent our ability to conduct a follow-up investigation regarding your information. If you provide a contact e-mail address it may be used to initiate follow-up communications with you concerning your information and may be shared by OCI when appropriate with other law enforcement and judicial entities engaged in investigating or assessing the information. There is no penalty for failing to report a possible violation; however, if you knowingly report false information to FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations, you may be subject to criminal or civil penalties. When in doubt slow things down and think them through.

Anyone wonder if the Democratic party is on Psychotropic drugs?

It is curious that they won't have open discussions and debates about this Health Care system with us and/or the Republicans. They are supposed to be working for us and we want them to be accountable and respectful to us and our laws.

    Why are they so paranoid?

White House Draws Fire for Requesting 'Fishy’ Information From Supporters on Health Reform

The White House is under fire for a blog post asking supporters to send "fishy" information received through rumors, chain e-mails and casual conversations to a White House e-mail address, flag@whitehouse.gov.

Conservatives have pounced on the request, accusing the White House of acting Orwellian.

"If you get an e-mail from your neighbor and it doesn't sound right, send it to the White House?"said Sen. John Barasso, R-Wyo. " People, I think all across America are going to say is this 1984? What is happening here? Is big brother watching?"

Radio host Rush Limbaugh accused the White House of using heavy-handed tactics.

"They're looking for tattletales,"he said. "They're looking for snitches. They're looking for informants."

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, charged the White House with compiling an "enemies list."In a letter to the president, Cornyn urged Obama to provide Congress with more details on what the White House plans to do with anyone reported for "fishy"speech.

"I am not aware of any precedent for a president asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed 'fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests,"he wrote.

"You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights,"he wrote.

The controversy is part of a larger debate on health care reform that has led Democrats to portray town hall audiences protesting a Democratic-sponsored bill as angry mobs duped into hostile actions by special interest groups.

The Democratic National Committee released a Web video and e-mail on Wednesday blasting opponents of the 10-year, $1 trillion plan.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said lawmakers will continue to press for reform "in spite of the loud, shrill voices trying to interrupt town hall meetings."

Republicans say counter that lawmakers have a responsibility to listen to constituents and their concerns.

    GOOD JOB SEN. CORNYN!!!

You know, we really should take the time to not only THANK him, but to know that he will have ongoing support in his pursuit of this matter...... regardless of party affiliation.

He's going to need people behind him. Do any of us believe for a second that obama will answer his questions or cease this "program"? obama has repeatedly shown that he considers himself above answering to anyone on any subject as he goes about installing a form of government in this country which is contradictory to our established system.

This issue will be no different than any other.

And here's another question.......what is it that obama and his cronies plan to do about, or with, members of Congress themselves not on board with his agenda and, according to their definition, are considered to be engaging in "fishy" discussion on the issue and engaging in spreading "disinformation"?

This is beginning to feel like being stuck in some strange, scary, nightmare.

Have we ever, in our lives, heard more whining from a potus and his supporters?

"Oh boo hoo.....they're going to ruin my presidency"

"sniff, sob, WAAAAAAA........the big meanies are trying to "break" our president and ruin his presidency"

What in the Hell is this crap anyway? It doesn't matter who the potus happens to be, not everyone is going to like them, not everyone is going to agree with them 100% of the time, including those who voted for them, for Pete's sake.

But to be so openly whining about it? This is a first........

It's time to expose this charade, before it gets more dangerous.

Actually, I agree with this point. It is time that the charade be exposed.......the obama charade.

Let's hope it's done before HE becomes more dangerous.
