In this 3 September 2026 published video, host Clayton Morris of Redacted talks with Dane Wigington, an American anti-geoengineering activist and prominent promoter of the “chemtrails” conspiracy theory. He is best known as the founder of the website GeoEngineeringWatch.org, through which he claims governments are secretly spraying toxic chemicals into the atmosphere to manipulate global weather patterns and control populations.

Wigington has no academic background or formal training in atmospheric physics, climate science, or meteorology. His claims have been repeatedly investigated and dismissed by the scientific community as pseudoscience and fringe fabrications. Scientific evidence shows that weather modification and cloud seeding cannot cause or control large-scale natural disasters like wildfires or famine.

Cloud seeding is an 80-year-old practice that introduces tiny particles—usually silver iodide or salt—into existing clouds to help water droplets or ice crystals form more efficiently. It can slightly boost local rain or snowpack (typically by 10 percent to 20 percent) under specific, limited atmospheric conditions. It cannot create clouds out of clear blue skies, nor can it suppress or fuel major wildfires, which thrive in dry conditions where no target clouds exist. Human technology lacks the massive energy scale required to manipulate regional weather systems to that degree.

Techniques like cloud seeding are localized and short-term. Geoengineering—such as solar radiation management or stratospheric aerosol injection—proposes planetary-scale interventions to cool the Earth, but these concepts remain largely theoretical, small-scale, or computer-modeled. Government reports, such as those from the Government Accountability Office, note that tracking and centralized federal oversight of localized weather modification remain sparse. However, experts emphasize that gaps in data collection do not mean hidden systems are intentionally engineering droughts, famines, or fires.

Severe wildfires are driven by prolonged droughts, high temperatures, dry vegetation, and lightning strikes or human ignition sources, intensified by broader climate trends. Food shortages stem from conflict, economic disruption, extreme weather, and supply chain failures rather than intentional atmospheric manipulation.
